I woke up to paws on my cheeks. I opened my eyes and saw Ruddiger and Sunny in front of me. I sat up only to have a throbbing pain shoot through the back of my head. I hissed as I held the back of my head. Ruddiger jumped into my lap and snuggled as far as he could into me. I gave him a hug and smiled down softly at him. "Don't worry buddy. Everything will be fine." I said softly as I kissed the top of his head.

I looked around me and saw I was in Varian's room. I gasped after remembering everything that happened the day before. "The queen!" I quickly got out of the bed and ran down to the lab almost falling multiple times in the process. I shoved the door to the lab open to see Varian and the queen with her hands tied.

"I see you're awake." Varian said and he turned to face me with soulless grey eyes. I nodded softly as I stared at him. He leaned against his desk and crossed his arms in front of his chest. "Care to explain how you managed to get arrested and thrown in the dungeon?" He asked me. I expected his eyes to flicker, but it never came. They just stayed grey.

I stared at him for a moment before crossing my arms in front of my chest. "I'll explain my situation once you explain yours." I said as I nodded my head towards the queen. He sighed as he pushed himself off his desk.

"The queen is merely bait to lure the princess here." He said and he turned around to his desk to while off one of the many papers covering it. "Only the magic of her unbreakable hair can shatter the amber and free my father." He turned to face me and the queen.

I watched as his eyes started to lose even more color. "I tried asking for help in a civil manner, but was denied by everyone in Corona." His glare sharpened as he walked towards the queen. "So, unfortunately, this is my only remaining recourse." He glared at her as he walked passed and pulled the sheet that was covering his father down causing her to gasp.

"And after you've freed your father?" The queen asked and Varian just smirked at her. "After? Oh, well, I'm afraid Corona will pay for turning their backs on me. And that's when you should start worrying, your majesty." He said glaring daggers at her. 'No...he can't really be planning to destroy all of Corona.'

"Varian." I asked softly. "What?!" He yelled as his glare turned to me. "Are you sure you've thought this all through?" I asked and I saw his eyes gain a little bit of color back to them. I walked up to him and gently placed my hands on his cheeks. "Sapphires, you can't destroy all of Corona. This isn't right. I know that deep down you know what you're doing is wrong. It's not too late to stop all of this." I said softly and I watched his eyes flicker before they turned back to almost white.

He shoved my hands away from him and glared at me. "You're either with me or against me. I suggest you choose wisely, milady." His voice was deeper and I could practically see the venom dripping from each word he spoke. I glanced between him and the queen before sighing and nodding. "Fine. I promised to stay by your side so that's where I'll stay." I held my hand out for him and he smirked at me before shaking it. I pulled him forwards so we were right against each other. I glared up at him with gritted teeth.

"I know you can hear me so listen closely. The second I see my chance I'm striking with everything in me to get you out of that damn body." I said softly as I glared up at him. His eyes rolled to the back of his head as the smirk on his face grew.

"This could all be over right now, darling. Just say the words and you get your little boyfriend back." His voice was deeper with a soft accent as he spoke softly. "You will never have my body or my powers. I will protect myself and everyone else that I love no matter what you throw at me." I said softly and I watched as Varian's head tilted to the side as his smirk towards me widened. "Let's see how long you'll last." He said before his eyes snapped back forwards and he pulled away from me.
