Third POV:
"They've been at it for awhile." Eugene said and Varian nodded crossing his arms. "What are they even talking about?" Varian asked as he tried to get a better look at the three girls talking. "Shh! I'm trying to eavesdrop!" Cassandra said. "You know I can read lips, right?" Lance said and everyone stared at the three girls. "Follow your dust to me." Lance said and Varian facepalmed. "That's not what they're saying."
"Follow my destiny? How is this supposed to tell me my destiny if I can't read it?" Rapunzel asked and (Y/n) stared at the two pieces of the scroll in her hands. "I'm sure Varian and I could translate it, but I didn't pack any of the books we would need to translate it. I know the first part, but that's all." (Y/n) said as she studied both pieces more. "Find your next scroll piece at the Spire. And the keeper will take you to it." Adira said pointing to the spire and (Y/n)'s eyes widened in awe. "Do you mean THE Spire?!" She asked staring up at the spire with stars in her eyes. "So you've heard of it, Orange?" Adira asked with a soft smirk knowing she had. "Heard of it?! The spire holds some of the most important magical relics in the world! My mother told me stories about the wonders it hold and the information ready to be learned! Oh my god were going to the spire!" (Y/n) said jumping up and down in excitement.
(Y/n) POV:
"Is this it? The Keeper's place?" Eugene asked and I squeezed Varian's hand in mine. "Let's find out!" Rapunzel said and I bit my lip slightly nervous. "What's got you so nervous, milady?" Varian asked and I shrugged my shoulders. "I'm mother used to tell me stories about the spire. It holds so many different magical artifacts, books, scrolls, and more. It's said that the keeper knows everything in the place inside and out. The Keeper is also brave, wise, and very understanding. I-I'm just nervous about making a good first impression I guess. I also really want to learn more while I'm here, and knowing our group we won't be here very long." I said and Varian gave me a reassuring smile.
"Don't worry, milady. You'll make a great first impression. I'm sure this keeper will even let you take home a book or two." He said and I smiled. "Thanks, Sapphs." "Anytime, Milady." He said and we started walking towards the Spire. "Stay together. Especially you two. Who knows what could happen." Cassandra said and I nodded. "Well, we are in a narrow, elevated road, so I'm not seeing too many other options." Eugene said and I rolled my eyes.
"It's too quiet. I don't like it." Cass said and a loud roar made its way into our ears. I jumped into Varian's chest and he wrapped his arms around me. "What is that?!" Lance asked and we looked up to see nothing. "(Y/n) you know a lot about this place don't you? How about you explain what that was and please tell me it was made by a very cute and small creature." Eugene said and I shook my head no. "I-I think that was the guardian of the Spire. I forget what it's called, but it's a ferocious merciless beast that protects the spire." I said and Varian and I pulled away from each other.
'I'm surprised she's retained so much information about this place.' I heard Death say and I looked over my shoulder to see Death, Fate, Hermès, and a familiar, but hardly seen face. He was taller than Death, slim, wearing a large black cape, black crown made of bones and striking blue hair, under the cape was an all black suit. The god was Hades and we locked eyes for a moment. 'What did you expect her to do? Forget about literally a place filled to the brim with magical items anyone could use?' Fate said and I nodded my head to Hades and he did the same and I turned away.
'Not everything can be used in there. There is something special in there only her. She just needs to get her hands on it, if the apprentice will allow her that is.' Hades said to Fate and Hermès laughed. 'The apprentice isn't going to let her touch anything! She'll have to be fast. And I mean faster than me. Besides she doesn't know where it is. Though the hiding spot isn't that great.' Hermès said and started rambling about the different things inside and where they're hidden and how to find them. 'Hermès, I need you to show her where it is. It's meant for her and since you're the only one who knows where it is, you need to grant it to her.' I heard Hades say and Death groaned. 'I wanted to be the one to give it to her.' 'Too bad Boney! I'm the only one who knows where it is! Later losers!' Hermès said and I watched as he zipped past all of us and straight through the doors of the building with a gust of window following causing me to shiver.
We all watched as Rapunzel knocked on the door. "Hello?" She asked and she pushed the doors open before screaming and tons of moths flew out of the building. Once the moths cleared I saw one in Varian's hair and carefully placed my hand in front of it and it climbed onto my fingers before flying away. A gust of wind blew out along with some dust and a short figure started approaching us causing us to back away slightly.
"H-hi. Um, my name is Rapunzel." Rapunzel said and I looked around Rapunzel to see the short woman from my dream back when we met Vigor. "Um, and I'm Lance!" Lance said and Cassandra shushed him. "And I am looking for the-" Rapunzel was cut off. "Keeper of the Spire?! Look no further! I am the Keeper-" The woman started saying before she started coughing and a moth flew out of her mouth. "Swallowed a moth. Again. Let me start over." The woman said stepping out of the building and walking towards us.
"I am the Keeper of the Spire! But you can call me...Calliope." She said and I scrunched my nose at her energy. It felt very self absorbed, stubborn, and that of a liar. "Not what I expected, but okay." Eugene said and I agreed with him.
"So, what can the Keeper of the Spire do for you?" Calliope started talking and I stared in awe at everything around me. "Sapphires! Do you realize where we are?!" I asked and jumped up and down in excitement. "We're at the Spire." He said with a smile on his face as he watched me. "Sapphires were at THE Spire!!! L-Look! There's even a statue of Zhan Tiri in her true form! A-And the sword that was stuck in the anvil!" I said dragging him around to look at all of the different things around us.
"Actually you see, I heard you might be able to help me." I heard Rapunzel say and I marveled at a statue that resembled Hades. I glanced to the side to see him looking at it as well. 'I have to say that the mortals did quite a good job at the sculptures of us.' "As Keeper of the Spire, I have been entrusted wardship over the Spire's artifacts. It is my sworn duty to prevent these items from falling into the wrong hands." Calliope stated dramatically as she leaned against one of the podiums. "And to protect them from the outside world. Or in some cases protect the outside world from them!" She said and leaned her back against the podium. "So I'm kinda prestigious." She said and I bit my lip softly.
"O-oh wow. That is impressive. So I heard you could help me get the third piece of a scroll." Rapunzel said and she glanced at me and I reached into my satchel. "Which scroll?" Calliope asked Rapunzel. "There's the Scroll of Danbury, uh, the Pavel Scroll, the Scroll of Tamnengier-which isn't technically a scroll, more of a brochure." Calliope said and I pulled out the two pieces of the scroll. "I-It's none of those ones." I said holding it up so she could see.
"Oh, ho, ho, ho! That scroll. That's in the Spire's Vault." She said looking up at me. "Great! So where is the Spire's Vault?" Rapunzel asked and I placed the two pieces back into my satchel carefully. A soft gust of wind caught my attention and I turned to where it was heading to. I saw Hermès floating on his back above a desk. He had a large smirk on his face as he pointed down to one of the drawers of the desk. "Spire." Calliope said and I slowly made my way towards the desk.
"Excuse me?" Rapunzel asked and I looked down at the drawers of the desk looking at each one. "It's pronounced Spire. It comes from speira. It's Latin, which is another language that I actually speak." Calliope said and I bit my lip to hold back a rude groan. "Oh! Yeah! Got it. Where is the Spire's Vault?" Rapunzel asked and the two went back and forth about how it's pronounced and I thought about how Varian and I argue about how things are pronounced making me laugh slightly.
"Do you have the scroll or not?!" Cass yelled and I opened the drawer that I felt was right. "Cass please!" Inside the drawer was a locked box. "M-my name..." I said softly and pulled the box out of the drawer. "No I get it moms can be impatient." "Mom?! I'm four years older than her!" I heard Cassandra yelled but I was in my own world staring down at the box with my name engraved on the top. "Oh, I saw the crow's feet and I just assumed." Calliope said and Lance laughed.
