𝑻𝒉𝒆 angel buried his face on yeonjun's neck, inhaling his scent as much as he could until everything would end and both would have to part ways again. soobin didn't want to, he didn't want to let go of the other, he wanted to stay, with him and beside him. it was funny how the male was so scared of love because it only caused pain, when the only thing he felt in that moment was exactly that.
"i need to go." the older spoke calmly, putting the other on the ground and hiding all the pain the four words caused on him behind his cold eyes. it was pointless to let himself hurt when he was bond of being left since the start. soobin didn't and would never love him, he needed to accept that, and no painful words or yelled lies could change that, way less fucking in an alley.
"don't." the angel hugged yeonjun's shoulders, not feeling pain when the male had healed him as always, just like he did before, and tangling his hand on the older's hair. his voice trembled, consequence of him holding his tears back, but he tried to ignore it. "please, don't."
"i don't have a reason to stay." it was a lie, he had a million reasons to stay, but all were wrong and would get him more hurt. yeonjun felt like a fool when thinking of actually throwing his pride aside and considering putting his heart at stake, only so he could hold and love the scraps the angel could give him. he wouldn't, though.
"danny." the taller tightened his hold on the demon, afraid he would slip from his hands and leave him into self-torture again. it wasn't like it wouldn't be fair, though. "please don't go."
the way soobin called him so gently, as if his name was a precious word that could only be used lovingly, made something with the king. yeonjun felt himself closing his eyes while his heart beat rapidly, asking, begging, for having the angel back. the red haired pulled away, placing his hand on the younger's cheek while brushing their noses together. he couldn't stay, didn't matter if he wanted it or not.
"you're tearing my heart apart." the angel squeezed yeonjun's shoulders hard, trying his best to control his burning eyes to not let any tear fall. he knew he was, he knew it was unfair and sick to do that with the older, but he couldn't go against it, his heart somehow wouldn't let him.
"i'm sorry." soobin moved his hand to the male's face, holding it gently while a sob finally managed to escape his lips. he stared at the other's crimson eyes, the intense irises welcoming him like home, like a safe place among a life of nightmares. a safe place he couldn't have.
"i am too." the red haired gave the taller a small smile, filled with hurt, but still as pretty and warm as ever, and soobin felt his heart breaking. it wasn't fair, it would never be, because he wanted to give yeonjun what he deserved, what he needed, but he couldn't. he couldn't love the demon back.
yeonjun didn't give him a forehead kiss or a peck on the lips, he didn't hugged him and told he would comeback, he didn't say how soobin was pretty and elegant, like he did all the times they had parted before. the king stepped away, buttoned his suit and left without looking back, leaving the black haired to listen to the three words repeatedly inside his mind. i am too.
it was probably worst than hearing he hated soobin.
the king was fine, he wasn't affected by the fight, or fuck, or words from moments before. of course, that was a lie, but yeonjun couldn't let it all affect him, so he chose to act like it didn't. he walked just as confidently as he always did, stared at others with just as intense and cold eyes, from the first step he gave out of the alleyway until the doors of his castle.
"you're finally back. namjoon is trying to get time with you since last week and i'm about to get crazy over it." beomgyu said as soon as he saw the royal entering the palace, unwrapping his arm from taehyun's waist and approaching his best friend. everything seemed fine as the older had the same stoic face he always had after turning king, or losing soobin.
