𝑻𝒉𝒆 red haired didn't even hesitate to teleport himself to hell, now almost sure the nose bleeding was only a sign of the vision he had. he didn't know what to think, the vision didn't show much and he couldn't predict what happened, way less when the castle was silent and cold as it always was.
yeonjun went straight to his room, hoping to find taemin there, but was found with nothing. the place was organized and just like he had left, not even a sign of someone or something and so, he didn't waste much time there, stepping back to the corridor and turning to a worker that was calmly passing by.
"you." the demon turned around, bowing to the king before coming closer. "where's taemin?"
"i don't know, your majesty. last time i saw him, he was in the dining room having lunch." the girl looked up, as if thinking and nodded after, like she was sure about her words.
"was he with someone?"
"no, after your majesty left he only talked with mister beomgyu once, being alone the rest of the time. though i remember someone from the kitchen saying he barely ate, and when i saw him earlier he seemed worried." yeonjun nodded. it made sense, when he saw the crystalian in the morning he was so on edge that the royal decided to not talk much, letting the male calm down from whatever it was.
"ask beomgyu to come find me." the king said, thanking the demon girl before leaving. he went to taemin's room, the second more probable place for the male to be, his fast steps echoing throughout the halls.
yeonjun thought back on the vision, he only saw taemin's face, that had a worried expression before it morphed into surprise, then he turned around. that was it, which meant he had absolutely nothing to work with, not a word, not a room, only the older's features. he started to think about what could it be, he for sure wouldn't feel as worried if not for the bad feeling he had all day, so his mind instantly went to possible bad scenarios that could happen.
the male knew the possibility of someone invading the castle was immensely low, as it was heavily guarded, and there wasn't much of a reason to do so when he wasn't there. so if someone was in, it was because another person let them in, which opened the possibility of a traitor, but still didn't clarified why breaking in when he wasn't there. yeonjun didn't keep anything much valuable in obvious places or even told anyone about where he put things, important rooms had enchantments that only let a selected group of people inside and were too hard to break.
hyukjun couldn't do anything because he wasn't there, the red haired had sent him away to do something for him and going against it meant basically killing himself. seokjin was too dumb to escape and didn't have a reason to, he lost everything beyond namjoon and the previous head of the council wouldn't do something as stupid as letting him out when yeonjun already was reasonable enough with them.
it didn't make sense. all possibilities of bad things seemed to prove themselves impossible to happen. in fact, it did make sense, yeonjun was calculating enough to play his cards the best way possible, lowering chances of having problems to basically none, but the bad feeling and vision could only mean the opposite. he couldn't control his clairvoyance, he didn't even know how, but every time it happened, it was something critical or important, almost as if the power was more of a defensive mechanism than anything else.
yeonjun opened the room without knocking, running his eyes through everything before getting faced with the same thing he had before, emptiness. taemin was nowhere to be seen. it was the same thing for his office, the throne room and library, places where the crystalian usually was when not getting seen by the castle workers. the other possible locations would be visible and the demon girl would've know where the grey haired was, which left only maybe ruby's room before the king was convinced taemin wasn't in the castle at all.
ruby and taemin were relatively close, she liked the male a million times more than soobin, even if never telling yeonjun that, but he could see it. the two talked a lot when the older wasn't busy or with the red haired, to the point where kalila, ruby's snake, was more familiarized with taemin than with yeonjun himself. if he didn't find the male there, then at least his sister could have an idea of where he was.
the red haired started to think about the previous days, how taemin was acting and seemed tense all the time. was he hiding something? something important, that is, that concerned him and maybe his kingdom. it was hard to think so, though, taemin was the person he trusted the most and even if he hid something, yeonjun was sure would have a motive behind. however, it was still weird, the shorter was someone that believed things should always be clear, didn't matter if painful or problematic. he always took communication extremely seriously, and that was probably one of the reasons yeonjun and him didn't fight much and trusted each other to death, there wasn't room to doubt when they told everything to each other.
yeonjun sighed, rubbing his forehead while still hearing the whisper on the back of his mind telling that something wasn't right. it somehow managed to get even worse and he felt himself tensed while walking, mind running non stop in search of a valid explanation. the king stopped before his sister's door, knocking on it impatiently.
"rue? can i come in?" the red haired waited for an answer, respecting his sister's privacy and his own boundaries, but was met with silence. good, now both ruby and taemin were nowhere to be found, everything he needed. "ruby?" yeonjun sighed when not receiving any reply, he would say so much to her if he found the girl inside with an annoying smirk, waiting for him to come in without permission only to annoy him. "i'm coming in."
the king opened the door lazily, already imagining the girl and her sly face. he couldn't understand her obsession with annoying him, but he guessed it to be her way of showing affection. what he found though was nothing of the sort, there wasn't a sly smirk, red eyes and the snake sleeping beside ruby on the bed, way less her stupid and high pitched laugh that sometimes gave him headache.
ruby was laying on the floor.
taemin was looking at him directly in the eyes.
and his father was behind the crystalian, having just finished to slice his throat with a knife.
