𝒀𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒋𝒖𝒏 wasn't able to sleep after getting brought back to life, his mind barely gave him a second to breathe as he remembered over and over again how he was forced to go through all his life again. how he was forced to watch his mother die again, to get abandoned, to go through all the traumas and fear, all the mistakes and pains. how he had to watch himself hurt soobin over and over again, watch himself get insane, watch himself try to murder his anemone.

the demon knew what getting his soul punished meant, he was king of hell after all, but there was only much someone could know, way more when it all depended on who was being punished. yeonjun was aware that he did a lot of bad things, but he realized he would never be able to be aware of how much that would cost, how much he would take as a consequence. dying was relative in elyhea, the body would die, would lose it's vitality, but souls didn't die, souls were locked, were punished, maybe brought to peace, maybe forgotten, and his soul wasn't good enough to get one of the tender faiths.

hell was meant to take care of tormented souls, evil and sinful ones, to punish them for their wrong doings until they were ready to have another faith. but punishments didn't go to just suffering and feeling pain, it involved psychological punishment, it forced you into watching everything you loved die, watching people you cared suffer, it was a sadistic loop of showing you your most beautiful moment just to take it away, to kill it, and to blame it on you. yeonjun spent minutes dead, but his soul spent months in hell. months of seeing and feeling everything he already had and that caused him to be the person he was now, shattered and lost.

"little tulip." the two words slipped as a murmur through soobin's lips, the angel's body was laid on yeonjun's bed comfortably as the demon waited for when he would wake up. the pained nickname caused the king's heart to stop, making he hold his breath and squeeze soobin's hand unconsciously. little tulip. there was only one person that ever called yeonjun like that, someone who he never managed to forget or stop loving, someone he cared for just as much as when they were alive. his mother.

the red haired immediately started to tremble, eyes filling with tears as he rested his forehead on his and soobin's intertwined hands. yeonjun was able to get over his mother death after years, he still missed her, but he could sleep at night and not feel numb when remembering to watch her give her last breath. that changed when he was forced to watch her die again while being punished, it changed when feeling everything he felt, when understanding even more than when he did then, when knowing that if she was still alive, he wouldn't be like that. it was like he had lost her again, hours earlier instead of years, just like it was with taemin and ruby. yeonjun watched all his loved ones die again, and again, and again. months in hell meant living and seeing his own life for months. it meant he watched his mother die at least, another three times, and it meant he heard little tulip being called softly as a heal to his heart a million times, just to spent a million days without hearing it anymore.

he didn't understand, however, why soobin was saying such thing. yeonjun never told him much about his mother, simply because he couldn't, because it hurt, and saying she called him 'little tulip' was far from the small amount of things he was even able to say. soobin shouldn't know about it, but then again, soobin shouldn't be able to bring him back to life too.

yeonjun had understood that bit after the first hours of an unconscious soobin, the angel's royal powers had to be related to what happened, it was the only possible explanation. it made sense, hyukjun did a whole lot of things just because he found out heaven's youngest prince would be too powerful, and what could be more powerful than bringing someone back to life? than slipping through nature's cracks and laws to reach someone's soul and bring it back to it's body, after it was dead, after the soul was being punished or whatever it might be. it was almost as being gifted by immortality not one, but two times, both through his wings and his powers.
