𝑻𝒉𝒆 angel sipped his tea quietly, feeling his body get warmer with the hot drink. yeonjun was beside him on the table, brows furrowed while reading a paper soobin didn't know the contents of, though it was most definitely related to the kingdoms. they were eating together when a woman that looked important excused herself in, whispering some words to the king and leaving the small stack of papers with him before disappearing behind the door. it must've been something important because the demon stopped eating immediately to look at the documents.
"hey, love, i'm sorry for this. i just need a moment." the red haired tucked a strand of hair behind the taller's ear before leaving a kiss on his temple. soobin didn't mind the lack of attention, he understood yeonjun was a king and had duties, way more when ruling two lands instead of one.
"don't worry, danny." the angel smiled, focusing on the biscuits he had in front of him, all with intriguing colors. don't get him wrong, they were pretty, but why was something supposed to have a brown to beige scale of color, lilac? elyhea didn't have things like food coloring, it was used fruits or natural pigments at a maximum, and none would end in such vibrant lilac, or blue, or grey? why was there a grey biscuit?
soobin wasn't worried about the possibility of the food having animal-derived ingredients, yeonjun knew very well he didn't eat anything of the sort, so he wouldn't offer it to him. he still wondered how the colors were made though, and asking the older would be his first thought but the male was so focused on the paper he didn't have the heart to distract him. he knew yeonjun took his role as king seriously and that it was important to him, so he would never want to get in the way.
the angel took one more sip of his tea before grabbing one of the blue biscuits, he glanced at the demon for a second before taking a bite of it. it was incredibly weird, but not in a bad way, it only had a surprisingly extravagant taste, a little citric and flowery at the same time? soobin found himself strangely focused and entertained on his silent reviewing of hell treats. so much he almost jumped in place when the dinner room door was opened again, forcing himself out of his thoughts.
"sorry for interrupting again. dan, one of the ministers from the council wants to see you. i told they can't just barge in anytime like they own the place just because they are some rich bastards, but they promised it would be quick." taemin stood beside the door, a professional look on his face while he waited for a reply. yeonjun sighed, rubbing his forehead in what seemed like stress, mumbling some words that sounded more like death threats than anything else, and got up from the table.
"wait here, soobin." before he could pass through the door, taemin put a hand on his chest, looking seriously at his eyes in a silent conversation.
"calm down." yeonjun tsked, but nodded after, closing his eyes and taking a few breaths. soobin could see he clearly hated whoever was waiting to talk to him, and considering the way taemin referred of the person, he hated them too. "in the meantime you're there, i want to talk to soobin." the crystalian averted his eyes to the quiet male, going back into looking at the king after. he nodded his head slightly, as if reassuring yeonjun he wouldn't do anything wrong. "is that okay?"
taemin took his hand off the red haired's chest and stared at the angel, he was asking if it was okay for him, not for yeonjun. soobin nodded, he wasn't really fond of the male, but there was no reason to act like a child and refuse to talk, even if he secretly wanted to. the demon nodded when seeing both agreed with it and left the room in sequence, an annoyed expression still on his face.
"can i sit?" the grey haired asked politely, pointing one of the chairs with his hand and sitting in front of the angel after getting a hesitant nod.
