𝑩𝒆𝒐𝒎𝒈𝒚𝒖 paced inside his room restlessly, he had his hand rubbing his forehead in worry as he tried his hardest to find a way to help yeonjun. things were going too far already, the red haired was each day worse and beomgyu couldn't bear to just sit and watch as his best friend destroyed himself.

taemin had only told him about the vision, so there wasn't anything useful that could somehow manage to put yeonjun's head into place. he had seen the king cough and bleed a lot in the past days, after he sent soobin back to heaven, and if not locked inside the training room, the red haired was with his nose stick to documents, obsessively coming up with implementations and ways of making the kingdom better.

the last time they talked was when yeonjun told him he ended things with soobin, after that, the older barely spared him a glance. beomgyu had never seen the demon so distant, as if they weren't friends at all, as if the years of friendship and support given were nothing. the gargoyle wished taemin was there, the crystalian always understood yeonjun better so it was easier to do the right things, but now he was alone and completely clueless, not even a hint of what the king was thinking or what he could do to help. either way, he would never give up on yeonjun, the taller was the closest thing he had of a family.

taehyun opened the door, staring at his boyfriend with furrowed brows. he hated to see the long haired like that, tense all the time and having headaches due to stress. it didn't seem fair to worry so much about someone who was barely doing anything to keep the friendship going, only causing hurt. the blonde stepped forward, holding beomgyu's face between his hands gently and staring at him softly.

"beom, you need to rest. thinking about him so much is not doing good for you." he used his thumbs to caress the older's cheek, pecking his lips a single time while using a calm tone in hope to ease the male a little.

"no, i can't." beomgyu shook his head, a sigh leaving his lips as he dropped his shoulders in defeat. he gently took the younger's hands off his face, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear after. he didn't care if trying to help yeonjun was doing no good to him, he would still do it because he couldn't wait until it was too late. he couldn't leave the king, not when he was the only thing he had left. "he needs me, tyun."

"beomgyu, you can't help if you barely take care of yourself! this is worrying me, i understand king daniel is important to you but you can't forget about yourself. you need to be your first priority and right now, you need to rest." taehyun furrowed his brows, staring at the older in annoyance as he couldn't see him give up on himself for someone else, even more when the person was being nothing more than an asshole.

"taehyun, stop." the taller shook his head, closing his eyes in tiredness. he couldn't handle the male's scolding right now, he already had way too much in his mind and having a fight with his boyfriend would only bring more stress to him.

"no, you stop! this is too much already, i can't sit and see you fucking yourself up for that man that don't even care." the blonde moved his hands in the air, trying to use them as a way of making his words stronger. he respected yeonjun, truthfully, as a person and king, but he couldn't turn a blind eye to what was happening, which made him start to hold a small dislike for the royal. "king daniel doesn't even talk to you these days, doesn't even look at you, but here you are, putting him above yourself and your health. this is not right and-"

"stop! you don't understand, taehyun!" the said male flinched at the loud tone beomgyu used, closing his mouth immediately. it was the first time beomgyu ever raised his voice to him. "i can't be like you, i can't ignore everything and everyone and focus on my own personal goals! i will always put people i love above me, that's what i do, how i am, and you will never understand that because you only care about your fucking job! people are not the same as you, can't you realize it?!"

"that's what you think of me?" taehyun said calmly, staring in the older's dark eyes in disappointment. "i care for you, more than anything, even my job. in fact, i had an important soul to harvest today, but i gave it up to another reaper so i could come see how you were. i'm not a selfish person, beomgyu. i love you, and you will always come first to me, even if you don't see it."

"tae-" the long haired said softly, gently holding the other's arm, but was pulled away by the male himself.

"i will give you some time alone." taehyun said before turning around and leaving through the door, he couldn't stay inside the room if beomgyu's stress would lead him to throw harsh words at him. he knew the male didn't mean it, the gargoyle was the sweetest person he ever met, one of the reasons he fell in love with him in the first place, so he knew the words weren't truly what he thought, but hearing them still hurt.

beomgyu let out a curse when the door was closed, rubbing his face tiredly as he felt like having a breakdown. his shoulders were weighted by way too many things at once and he wasn't sure if he could handle it, he never intended to yell at taehyun nor sound like he found the male to be selfish. he knew taehyun loved his work, but he knew he loved him too, that's why he was never really bothered by the amount of work taehyun had, even if sometimes he missed the male dearly.

the gargoyle sat on the bed while with head in hands, shoulders tensed and eyes glistening softly with tears. he was too overwhelmed by the recent events, even if not as close as yeonjun, he was still friends with taemin, and ruby always had a small place in his heart, even if he was quite scared of the girl. she was yeonjun's little sister, after all, of course he would have a soft spot for the girl when she visited the male every time she could after he was disinherited. he was there every day the girl brought a smile out of her brother and made him laugh even when in pain, beomgyu was there when ruby babbled about her day and hell just to distract yeonjun from his own mind, and he was there when she promised to take care of yeonjun like he did with her.

it was hard for him to not see her or taemin around too, way more added to the despair the king was drowned into. he felt guilty for not being able to give as much attention to taehyun as before and now, for snapping at him when he was just trying to help. nothing seemed to be working, he couldn't talk to yeonjun properly, couldn't get used to the empty spot taemin and ruby left, couldn't put time into his relationship and couldn't let himself relax as his mind was too worried.

beomgyu would still try, though. he would always try, for yeonjun, for taehyun, for taemin, for ruby and for himself.

the crystalian's words came into his mind as a reassurance he didn't know he needed, words taemin said days before dying, when the long haired already knew about the vision and was too worried of what would happen after it became real.

'take care of them, i know you can, beomgyu. you're one of the strongest people i know, and everyone carries you in their hearts, including me. so don't stress yourself so much about the vision, you were here way before i did, therefore you don't need me. just do like you always do, be there while carrying your pretty smile and sweet self. things will work out, i'm certain.'

beomgyu let out a small and pained smile. taemin always knew what to say, making sure the words would be remembered when in need, the gargoyle always admired him for that. he just hoped things would really work out like the crystalian said, because he wouldn't know what to do if everything got worse.

for now, though, he would still try.
