Chapter 50 - Escape : The Leader

(A/N: 50th Chapter Milestone!

I say this all the time now but I'm seriously grateful, I never thought we would get this far. We have over 20k reads and over 1k votes, AND over 1k people have read the first two chapters!

I've been going through some hard times mentally and your guys' comments, votes, and positivity make me smile constantly. Writing has been the highlight of my day in hopes of giving the same joy I feel writing it to others when they read it!

We screamed as we all duck-and-covered from the large paw of the bear rug hurdling towards us. Once its hand got stuck in the wall, Nami, Chopper, Myself, and Usopp ran against the wall around to the other side of the room.

"That was close!" Usopp said while panting.

"Let's leave this room for now! Try another room!" I yelled to Nami and Chopper ahead of me, as Usopp followed behind.

"We won't let you escape!" Four paintings of four old men yelled as they blocked our path.

"NO!" We all screeched as we threw out hands into the air and ran in the other direction.

"No! No! No! No!" Usopp yelled from behind me. UI turned around to see him running in place because of the paintings holding his cape. I grabbed Usopp's hand and yanked, causing me to jolt backward. He tripped onto me and we rolled into Nami and Chopper, landing us in the fireplace, which thankfully wasn't on.

I landed with my back against the wall, stopping Nami and Chopper's heads from hitting the wall, while Usopp landed on top of me.

For some reason, as soon as we stopped rolling, the Zombies seemed nervous. They yelled for us to wait, and held their hands up with nervous looks.

The zombies got close and we all screamed.

"We're in the fireplace!" Chopper pointed out the obvious.

"We're doomed, there's nowhere left to run!" Usopp cried, pushing more into my stomach.

"NO!!" Nami and Chopper yelled.

"There has to be a way!" I cried, sweat dripping down my face.

All of the sudden, when one of the zombies got too close for Usopp's comfort, he used his feet and pushed back hard, causing the wall behind us to move. We yelled as we fell into a new, dark room.

My eyes were adjusting to the light as I lightly moved Nami and Usopp off of me.

After processing what just happened, I stood up and looked at where we just came from.

My eyes had adjusted, and I saw the outline of the exact fireplace we were in.

I leaned my head against it and heard the nervous mumbles of the zombies. I couldn't hear exactly what they said, I just knew they were talking.

I made a small unlit torch with my devil fruit and took a sigh of relief, "So looks like we found a secret passage. Usopp, light this up for me."

"O-Ok."

Once the torch was lit, I helped him up, then Chopper, then Nami, who looked spooked.

Once the torch was lit, the fireplace started moving in and once I saw the zombies, I panicked. I gave Nami the torch in a hurry and threw my hands to the floor. I made a barricade of wood so they wouldn't open it soon.

"C'mon, let's hurry before they find a new way through!" I yelled to the three, who were catching their breath.

I spoke a little too late, as a zombie with an unhinged jaw came around the corner. We all screamed and started heading down the other way.
