Sitting in a chair next to Emma, Aurelia watched as Mary Margaret finished doing Emma's hair.

"I remember my first ball. I was eight years old, and my mother said I was finally old enough to go. It was magical" Mary Margaret sighed. "All of the lights, the music, and I remember thinking. I can't wait to someday share all of this with a daughter of my own."

"I'm glad I get to share it with you, too, Mom" Emma smiled, taking her mother's hand. Aurelia looked at the two, sharing a mother-daughter moment, and wanted to be happy for them. She should've been happy for them. But she wasn't.

Not wanting them to see her cry, she sat up, rushing out of the room before they could stop her. With tears in her eyes, she rushed down the hall, not noticing she was heading straight for someone until she ran into them.

"I'm sorry. I-"

"Auerlia, what's wrong?" Killian asked, immediately noticing her tears. Trying to wipe them away, Aurelia shook her head and smile.

"Nothing. I was just um-"

"Don't lie to me. What happened?" he said.

Sighing, Aurelia leaned against the palace walls and sniffled. "I don't know why I'm so upset. I should be happy for them" she sighed.

"Happy for who?" he asked.

"Emma and Mary Margaret. We were getting ready for the ball and they were...they were so happy. Emma getting to share this with her mom and Mary Margaret getting to help her daughter get ready, they were happy. I should be happy for them" she said.

"Why aren't you?" he asked.

"Because! Because I'll never get that. My mother's gone. Emma found her parents but my last memory of my mother is being ripped out of her arms by Pan's shadow because you-"

Aurelia paused as if snapped out of a trance as she looked at Killian. "No. No, I didn't mean that."

"Lia-"

"Killian, I need you to know I didn't mean that. I don't even know why I said it I just..." with a groan, she banged her head against the wall, scrunching her eyes closed.

"Aurelia, I'm not upset. Just talk to me, please" Killian said, cradling her head so she couldn't hurt herself.

"I don't know what's happening. It's like, everything that used to make me happy, just...doesn't. I mean earlier, I was so excited for this ball but now it's the last thing I want to do" she sighed.

"Perhaps, that's exactly why you should go," he said. "And not just because you look...beautiful in this dress.

Aurelia looked up at him and couldn't help but let out a small laugh. "What do you mean?"
