Chaand Raat is a time of celebration when families and friends gather in open areas at the end of the last day of Ramadan to spot the new moon, which signals the arrival of the Islamic month of Shawwal and the day of Eid.
Once the moon is sighted, people wish each other Eid Mubarak ("Blessings of the Eid day"). Women and girls decorate their hands with mehndi (henna), and people prepare desserts for the next day of Eid and do last rounds of shopping.
The elders were busy in preparation! While our little Zaira was planning a little trouble!
"Chalo na Mishii! Hamza se khete ha hame churiya dilane lejaye!!" Zaira pleaded!
"Ira tumne 3 din ke liye 10 pairs churiya leli ha or abhi koi nhi jane dega pata ha Chaand raat bazar me kitna rush hotaa ha! Or tumne phr Hamza bola jabtk Bhaiya ki daant na sunlo tab tk dimag jagah pe nhi ata!" Mishi her older cousin scolded!
"Ek to tum or tumhare khouf bhaiya ghar ha nhi me bare baba ko bolungi wo dedenge permission tum bs ready hojau hum jarahe ha!" Zaira flipped her hairs and walked out! Time to start her drama!
"Iraa Hamza ko to manouu! Mishaal shouted!
"Wo tumhara kamm ha!" She shouted back!
Zaira walked towards backyard! No brother of her were in sight! Her baba was standing little far probably talking to decorators or someone on call!
She walked towards her bare baba! Haroon Ibrahim!
"Bare baba!" She hugged him and made a crying face!
"Arey Ira beti kia hua! Itni udass kyu ho beta!" Haroon consoled her
"Bare baba kal Eid ha or mere pass dress se matching churiya nhi ha please mujhe churiya leni ha! Ap bhai se khae na mujhe lejaye!" She sniffed!
"Bs itni si batt pe meri meri beti itni pareshan me kisi se khe kr mangwadeta hu! Apko pata haina aj markets me rush hota ap log pareshan hojage!"
"Nhi bare baba koi aur wese matching thori leayga or mujhe mehndi bhi lagwani haina ap jane de hum ache wali jagah jange or thori deair me ajange!" She made a cute puppy face!
"Paka no troubles?" He asked!
"Bare baba! Apko lagta me hamesha troubles creat krti hu? Wo to bs khabhi khabhi!" She whined!
Haroon laughed! "Acha baba jaou me Haider se khedeta tum dono ko lejaye okay? Guards sath aynge okay?"
"Bare baba!" Her eyes popped out!
"Please bare baba bhaiya nhi ap bhai se khaye na wo lejange bhaiya to abhi ghar pe bhi nhi wo to jane bhi denge or to or wah..." she trailed off!
Haroon laughed loudlyy!
"Mazak karaha tha beta! Kyu darti ho itnaa! Jau me sab sambhal lungaa!" He playfully winked at her!
"Love you bare baba!" She kissed his cheek and ran off!
"Yayaa kha tha na aisa koi kam nhi jo Zaira Hassan na kar paye!" She stated proudly!
"Tumhara bhai nhi manraha use mana sakti ho to jau manalo!" Mishi shrugged her off!
"Ek to ye mere dono bhai! Apni bhen ke har kam me tang arani ha!" She frowned!
"Bhai! Bhai! Please chaleee mene bare baba se permission leli ha!" Zaira tried to convince her youngest older brother!
"Zaira kia hogya ha tumhe? Bare baba kia dadu bhi nhi bacha paenge mugambo ko gussa agaya toh! Hamza spoke scared!
"Dekho Hamza mujhe permission milgai ha! Ya to ap aoge mere sath ya me driver sath jarahi hu but me jaungi chaand raat ki ronakein ha bahe dekhu nhi kia?" Zaira stood firm!
