Chapter 9: Why ?

Zee followed the steps of the two policemen who were in front of him. A few minutes later, he will meet the driver of the car that hit his parents and killed them. They walked towards a VIP emergency ward on the 4th floor of the hospital.

The police told him that the perpetrator was a 20-year-old teenager who was a student at Kasetsart University. The police also told him that the teenager was a man, the son of a rich president in Thailand. The teenager's father is the owner of 4 famous resorts in Thailand which is also a supplier of wealth to the country of Thailand in the field of tourism.

After almost 5 minutes of walking, they finally arrived at the 4th level of the hospital. They walked towards a VIP room at the far end. Zee was able to read the name that was placed on the door of the room and he was very surprised. Mr. Nunew? Is this Nunew that he knows? Or do they just have the same name? Zee started to get nervous. His heart was beating fast.

Zee took a deep breath. Without wasting time, the police opened the door slowly and stepped inside. Zee who was behind just followed their steps. Zee walked towards a bed and he wasn't ready to see that face. He hoped that his guess was wrong.

"This is Nunew Chawarin Perdpiriyawoong, the one who hits your parents."

Zee felt her knees shaking as soon as he heard the policeman's name. He then raised his head and looked at the face that was lying on the bed with a very pale face. His body is full of wires. Zee was very surprised that his guess was correct. That was the Nunew he knew ...

... the one he like ? or maybe love ? ...

"Nunew ?"

Zee took a deep breath while looking at Nunew's face. He never thought that the killer of his parents was the person he loved. How can this all happen? 

"After we did research, we found alcohol inside his body. Mr. Nunew had been driving while drunk until causing an accident."

Zee was speechless and said, "Drunk ?" 

Without waiting any longer, Zee then walked towards Nunew. His chest heaved with anger inside him. How does this happen to him? Nunew had taken his parents from him. Nunew has taken away his happiness that he had so carefully guarded. Nunew is very cruel.

Zee approached Nunew and then he removed the respirator from Nunew's mouth causing everyone to panic. Zee ignored Nunew's critical condition. The ventilator beeps in sync with the patient monitoring machine.
Zee: HOW DARE YOU, NUNEW !!! SUCH A CRUEL KILLER !!! (He start to cry)

Two policemen who were there started running towards Zee. They tried to stop Zee who was in a state of anger. A nurse started to step inside and then approached the bed. The nurse quickly put the breathing apparatus back on Nunew's face because if it was too late, Nunew would surely die too.

"Mr. Zee, please control yourself. We are at the hospital."

Zee tried to free himself from the two policemen while looking at Nunew's face. His eyes looked straight at Nunew with mixed feelings. He was sad, angry and disappointed after knowing that Nunew was the main cause of his parents' death. Nunew had killed both his parents.
Zee: How dare you, Nunew. How dare you did this to me after what happened between us a few days ago. How dare you, killer ? I hate you, Nunew. I hate you so damn much. You took away my happiness. I HATE YOU SO MUCH, NUNEW.

Zee sat down. He couldn't hold back the pain he was trying to hold back. Tears once again fell down his cheeks. He tried to accept it but he couldn't. This is too much for him. He was disappointed with Nunew.

Zee looked at Nunew and said, "How can you do this to me ?"

After 2 days ...

Zee stepped into Nunew's VIP treatment room carrying a small white towel and a bowl of white water. He walked towards Nunew's bed and placed the bowl on the table. Then, he sat on the chair next to Nunew. He looked at Nunew's face.

Nunew hasn't woken up since the accident that night. The doctor said that it is likely that Nunew will be in a coma for a long time. Doctors could not say for sure how long he would be in a coma, whether it would be months or years.

The accident was very bad so because of that Nunew suffered very bad injuries. The police told Zee that Nunew's head had been hit hard on the shoulder of the road and the doctor had also done an examination. His head was hit so hard that it made Nunew's brain shake a little. That's why the doctor expect him to be in a coma. 

Suddenly he remembered the conversation he had with his mother a month ago.

Flashback ...

Zee was sleeping on the bed very soundly. His mother who had just entered just smiled sweetly looking at her son's face. Her mother walked over to Zee's bed and sat on the bed next to Zee. Without waiting any longer, he then placed his hand on Zee's forehead.

He wants to check Zee's body temperature because yesterday Zee came home with his boss, Perth. Perth said that Zee seemed unwell so he decided to send her home. He could guess that Zee must be working very hard. Furthermore, every day he would come home at midnight after his shift was over. Zee really lacks sleep and rest.

"Zee ..."

Zee's mother gently patted Zee on the shoulder while calling her son. Zee wakes up and she looks at her mother. His aching head made him endure the pain. He gently massaged his head then got up from the bed and sat facing his mother.
Zee: Good morning, Ma.
Ma: Good morning, my son. Are you okay ?
Zee: I have a headache.
Ma: You must be so tired from working. Last night, your boss sent you home.
Zee: Really ?
Ma: Yes and if I'm not mistaken, I saw him too.
Zee: Who ?
Ma: Nunew.
Zee: Nunew ?
Ma: Yes. I saw him inside Perth's car. Are they in relationship or something ? Well, I know he's a player and he might want to try your boss ?

Zee laughed softly as soon as she heard her mother's words.
Zee: You are wrong, Ma.
Ma: Hmm ?
Zee: They didn't have any relationship. P'Perth and Nunew are close friend and you know that Nunew is the VIP at Pentagon. So, they are like brother already.
Ma: Ohh I see ... no wonder. 
Zee: Actually, last night I was about to send him like I always did but then I suddenly I'm not feeling well. I took a rest for a while because at that time Nunew was still enjoying his time with his friend. 
Ma: You took a rest so that you can send him ? 
Zee: Yes, Ma. I'm worried about him. 

His mother sighed while looking at him.
Ma: You likes him a lots naaa ...
Zee: ...
Ma: Let me ask you again. Why didn't you make a move on him ? Instead of you adoring him from afar ... send him home silently ... Why ?
Zee: Ma ... you know I will continue my study in Dubai in just less than a month.
Ma: So, what ? 
Zee: No, Ma ... I need to complete my Master then I will take the first move.
Ma: What if you didn't manage to make a first move ? Hmm ? Remember, my son. He's hot, handsome, sexy, seductive and many people wants him. Not only you.
Zee: ....
Ma: I want to see the both of you being happy together.
Zee: Why did you said that ?
Ma: I never see you like this. You are different. Seems like you have your the other one. Your happiness cause I can see you sincere with him.
Zee: ...
Ma: So, I'm expecting the wedding ? 
Zee: Ma ...
Ma: I'm happy because you are happy, my son. Try to get him as much as you can. If you can't, Ma can help you naa ... as long as you are happy. 

End of flashback ...

Zee took a deep breath. 

Without wasting time, he got up from his chair. He took the small towel he had brought earlier and put it in the bowl filled with water. After that, he rinsed the towel. Then, he bent his body slightly and began to gently wipe Nunew's face and neck. He also rubbed Nunew's right and left arms.

"I'm expecting the wedding ?"

His mother's words echoed in Zee's mind. Unknowingly his tears fell down his cheeks while he was busy wiping Nunew's body. Zee paused for a moment then he sat on the chair. His watery eyes looked at Nunew's face. His right hand was clenched tightly as if he was holding back the anger inside him.
Zee: Why ? Hmm ?

Zee reached for Nunew's right hand and he placed he forehead on it and said, "Why it must be you, Nunew ?"
