DAY 1

Night Time

Kurukshetra

It was time to get serious.

That's what they all knew. And they all also knew that it would be impossible to defeat Bhishma, now that Shikhandni was injured.

The army assembled back at the camp with the sound of the conch still echoing in their ears. They settled into their respective tents as the Pandavas gathered in the main tent.

"U-Uttar has attained martyrdom." Indu gave a hug to Satyadev who sighed in defeat. Only the first day of the war and his younger brother was dead. "I'll have to break the news to Uttara too. And she wouldn't handle it well. Where even is she?" He tried to give a smile, failing.

"She's with Abhimanyu. They didn't get much time to talk before their wedding, they thought of catching up these days." Indu swayed her hands over his shoulder to comfort him and he nodded. "Well, I'll go to them, then. And don't worry. I know the situation with the pyres, we can cremate him whenever." He hugged her before leaving the tent.

She sighed, sitting down on the mattress. The whole thing was tough to deal with, she had to be strategic and respectful. She glanced at her brothers who sat around her, discussing the soldiers killed on the first day. The siblings had surely felt a lot of lot of disappointment upon realising the ratio of their injured soldiers to Kaurava's injured soldiers was not favourable to them. But it was Indu who was soothing them, as of now.

"Oh, come on! At least, we saved so many civilians. That's counts for something." She smiled, trying to cheer them up. The four brothers nodded, almost in unison. Bheem sneakily stole a glance at Yudishthir to see if he was about to speak. As soon as he saw Yudishthir moving his lips to form words, he interrupted him and said, "You fought perfectly today, Indu. And it's surprising that none of your other brothers praised you regarding your bravery." He smirked, knowing very well that Yudishthir was about to praise Indu as well. She chuckled, realising the same. Yudishthir, on his way to playfully smack Bheem, snatched a laddoo out of Nakul's hand, all under Indu's influence.

"You, too? What has this world come to?" Naul sighed, hiding his smile. Sahadev started chuckling soon after Yudishthir smacked Bheem on his head, for which he had to stand on a cushion to meet Bheem's height. Indu and Nakul joined in the laughter.

The siblings chuckled. but their hearty laughter soon died after feeling the absence of Arjun. They had been waiting for his letters but to no avail, none had arrived. He also said he'd send a list of strategies one day before the war but he hadn't, again. This made them apprehensive of his situation. And as if it was destined to happen, the moment they were about to discuss Arjun's whereabouts, a letter reached the hands of a soldier. A letter from Arjun.

Yudishthir opened it immediately, as if on impulse. His eyes skimmed through the words on the letter, unsure of what to believe. Indu raised her eyebrows, trying to ask him what was in the letter. "Jyestha, what's in the letter?" She asked as he hesitated. He handed it over to her with a sigh, knowing he wouldn't be able to lie.
