Day 4

Dawn

Kurukshetra

As the moon left, giving his blessing to his daughter, and the sun rose over the red soil of Kurukshetra, Indulekha wore her armour. Her long hair was tied up into a braid by Sahadev and tucked into a bun. Her sword, cleaned of all the blood stains, rested in her chariot along with her quivers. The armies proceeded to the battlefield for another day of this long carnage.

"I used up your blood, so I can't really return it." Indu gave a squared smile, awkwardly as she walked with Kanha. He laughed, patting her head.

"You really thought that was my blood?" His smile grew.

"Yes?" She frowned at him. "Don't tell me took some poor animal's blood! Or, oh my god, was that the blood of someone who died?! That was so disrespectful of me to put it on my hands and-" Her monologue was interrupted by more of his chuckles.

"That wasn't anyone's blood, sakhi, it was alta I made and churned with milk." Kanha ruffled her hair while she stared at him agape.

"How was it so dark and thick then?" She questioned raising her eyebrows.

"What part of 'alta I made and churned' do you not understand, Indu?" He questioned, raising his eyebrow. She sighed, relieved that the red thick liquid wasn't someone's blood.

The 12-year-old rushed towards her mother, hugging her as her friend watched.

"Satyalekha, Madhusmriti, always be together and do not leave any place without soldiers. Madhu, you are older so I'll trust you with remembering this." She kneeled to be of the same height as the two kids. The girls giddily nodded and ran off to their tents.

"I've kept your weapons in your chariot," Krishna spoke, gaining her attention back.

"Can't I get rifles or something? Maybe even Mjolnir, you know, Thor's hammer." Indulekha groaned.
