Chapter 69

The King is back

Just as Sinbad was about to say something, someone else interrupted them.

"Serkan Malik, is that you?"

Her sweet voice made his lips curve into a smile as he left his friend's side to be near her.

"Yes, it's me. But I apologize, miss, my memory hasn't been good lately and I don't recall your name. I know I should have called you after our last encounter..."

"Watch your words when you talk about my woman. She was never and will never be one of your mistresses." Sinbad growled at his long-waited-to-see friend. He sees red whenever someone dare to cast aspersions on his Sibel.

"My woman?! I thought you were separated and single; that's the last news I heard."

"We were separated for a long time, but I was always bound to her. She is my only love."

Once again, Sinbad made her heart flutter.

She pecked his chest while standing in his arms but then stepped out of his loving embrace and walked towards Serkan.

She rolled up the sleeves of her cardigan, which looked like a pumpkin, and positioned herself with feet shoulder-width apart. She clenched her hands into fists on her waist, purposely making her hair look messy. She took a deep breath.

"I win the bet, so empty your pockets, Majesty." Her voice sounded dangerous yet incredibly adorable to her man, who was obviously caught off guard.

"No way,"

"That can't be,"

"You aren't my living childhood nightmare." Serkan doubted his memories as he took a closer look at Sibel.

"It took you a while to recognize me, Majesty... come on," she teased as she left her younger version behind and embraced her true self.

"What's going on here?" Sinbad asked, noticing how his friend's expression changed when he recognized Sibel.

"I'm sure whatever reason you had to separate from her, she must have caused it. She's the one who made the entire school mock my manhood. She challenged me and won every single time. The last thing she said to me was before the whole school, as she climbed up the tallest tree and safely made her way down from the upper leaves, while I could only make it to the second branch. But this witch here did it with ease and made everyone laugh at me. I hope you paid up because I truly wished for your downfall."

Sinbad was shocked to hear his friend's bitter words directed at his beloved, who was looking at him with pain in her eyes.

"I'm sorry, Serkan Malik, that your ego didn't allow you to see back then that everything I did was just to get your attention. I didn't have the looks of a woman back then, as I was just a 7-year-old child trying to catch your eye. Challenging you was the only way I could think of to make you notice me. But little did I know, it led me down a path of suffering and losing everything for years.

In this world, women can't do anything to win a man's heart, because even after 28 years, you still hate me and wish for the worst. Once again, I'm sorry."

She brushed her hair and took a step forward, standing two paces away from Serkan. She spoke those words that were like poisoned arrows aimed at Sinbad, unwanted.

Serkan gazed at her and saw how she had transformed from a strong woman to a broken one.

In reality, Serkan didn't feel any cringe for her, neither then nor now. He just wanted to make her feel lower, unknowingly that it could have broken her like this. He reached out his hand to touch her shoulder, but slipped as she turned quickly. Instead, she grabbed Sinbad's hand and moved away from the man who couldn't say anything, witnessing how broken she became.
