Rapunzel’s P.O.V

The gate suddenly closed behind Jack. “You know that isn’t going to hold me once I get my staff back, right?” Jack laughed as he circled me. “Maybe, but who said you’re going to get your staff back.” I snapped. “What am I going to have to take it by force like earlier? I would have gotten you if old Jack hadn’t so rudely interrupted!” Dark Jack exclaimed.  I jumped a little back as he seemed to get angrier and angrier. “Hey relax!” I shouted. He stared at me with confusion. “You’re right; you would have gotten me earlier so there’s no point in fighting you.” I tried. Jack raised his eyebrows slightly at my comment. “Glad you’ve realized that.” He laughed. “So listen why don’t you and I get out of here?” I suggested.  Dark Jack suddenly gripped my arm and pulled me to him. “Sounds good to me, but how about you give me the staff first?” He whispered in my ear. I stepped back a little bit distancing myself from him slightly. “Whoa not so fast!” I exclaimed. “You have to treat a lady before demanding things from her.” I stated. Dark Jack crossed his arms and laughed. “Alright what did you have in mind Princess?” He asked. “I was thinking something along the lines of just um…..” I trailed. I looked frantically around in hopes I could think of something. I saw Merida and she was waving her arms in order to get my attention. She motioned towards Jack and made the hand gesture to ‘go on’. I bit my lip as I shrugged her off.  “Along the lines of what Princess?” Jack questioned.   “This isn’t going to work.” I whispered to myself. Jack pulled me to him again. “Come on Princess you’re just wasting time now.” He laughed. “You’re right.” I sighed. He placed his cold hands on mine that were gripping his staff. “Just let go.” He cooed.  I stood there for a moment in deep thought. Suddenly I thought of the first time I had met Jack . “Don’t sweat it now jump.” Jack said as he pushed the small of my back causing me to fall out the window.  “Jack! What are you doing?!” I shouted. I heard a genuine laugh and felt a strong pair of arms around me. I opened my eyes and saw Jack holding me. “Relax Punzie I got you.” He laughed. I slowly recalled that moment. “Relax Jack I’ve got you.” I whispered. Dark Jack frowned and quickly tugged at the staff in my hands. I pulled it back, and soon it became a game of tug of war. “Just give it up Princess!” Dark Jack shouted. “No way!” I exclaimed as I gave one last sharp tug causing the staff to slip from Jack’s grip. I whip my hair at him so it wrapped around his body. I then quickly began to run around him so another layer of hair was tying him up. Jack saw this and quickly began to panic. “This won’t end well for you.” He spat as he strained against his bonds. “Well you’re the one tied up so I don’t this will end well for you sweetie.” I laughed. “Punzie quick heal him!” Merida shouted from the gate. “What?!” Dark Jack exclaimed. “No don’t!” He screamed. I opened my mouth to start singing when Dark Jack suddenly said “You don’t know what this with do to him.” He fell down to his knees and lowered his head. “What do you mean?” I asked him as I knelt down to his level. He looked up at me slowly. “No amount of healing can save him, all of his greatest fears have destroyed him.” He laughed. “You’re lying!” I exclaimed. “Rapunzel hurry before-“ Hiccup started but it was too late. Jack rolled his body away so his bonds would loosen. He pulled my hair off of him and charged me. “Give it to me!” He demanded as he tackled me to the ground and pulled at the staff. “Not in a million years!” I cried. Jack loomed above me, his hands pressed against the staff that I held horizontal over my chest. “You’re playing a dangerous game here Princess.” He laughed as he gripped the staff tighter. Suddenly the staff came alive. Frost climbed up and down the piece of wood. I flinched in pain as I felt the sharp cold pinch my fingers. “Does it hurt?” he laughed. “Rapunzel!” Merida and Hiccup screamed. “We’re coming in, hold on!” Merida yelled as she ran for the lever. “No I got this!” I shouted. “I don’t know about you but this doesn’t look exactly look like you got this.” Jack teased. “That’s what you think.” I laughed. Dark Jack frowned at my comment and pressed the staff harder against me. My hands began to burn from the intense cold. I could see my skin tone slowly changing into an unpleasant hue. “Uh-oh it looks like you’ve got frostbite.” Dark Jack laughed as he nipped at my nose teasingly. “Alright that’s it!” I shouted as I rolled over bringing Jack with me. Now I was above him pressing the staff against his chest.  When I rolled my hair wrapped around both Jack and I, leaving us tied together.  “What the-“ Dark Jack gasped. “Flower gleam and glow. Let your power shine. Make the clock reverse; bring back what once was mine. Heal what has been hurt. Change the Fates' design. Save what has been lost. Bring back what once was mine. What once was mine.” I sang quickly as Jack struggled against me. “No stop!” Dark Jack screamed. Suddenly his black hair began to brighten back to its normal white. “It’s working!” I shouted. My hair began to change back into its normal non glowing self as I stopped singing.  Jack’s face flashed with various emotions: hatred, pain and worse, fear. “It’s alright Jack I’m here.” I cooed as I leaned my forehead against his. The black flecks of the nightmare sand on his skin began to fade away as I comforted him.  “Rapunzel…” He whispered. “I’m right here Jack, I’m right here.” I stated as I brushed his bangs out of his eyes.  He blinked constantly until his golden eyes returned to their soothing blue.  “Rapunzel?” He questioned as he seemed to realize he was back to normal. I smiled at him comfortingly as I threw myself at him. “Whoa!” He exclaimed as he fell backwards. He sat up on his elbows and laughed. “Missed me?” He asked as I squeezed him tighter. “A bunch.” I cried. I sat up and let him go. We stared at each other awkwardly until Jack broke the silence. “I’m so sorry Punzie.” He apologized. I shot him a confused look. He chuckled at my reaction and reached out to me. Jack pushed back a strand of my hair lovingly. I leaned against his hand as he talked. “I’m sorry for everything Rapunzel.” He repeated. “If I wasn’t so stupid you wouldn’t have gotten hurt!” He exclaimed as he grabbed my hands and stared at them. “Look! Look what I did to you!” He shouted as he pointed at my frostbitten hands. I pulled my hands away from him and wrapped my hair around my hands. “Relax, I can heal them.” I laughed. I sang the Healing Incantation once more and my hands were good as new. “See.” I stated as I held out my hands for him to see.  Jack sighed as he grabbed my hands again.  “Don’t you get it? I still hurt you.” He cried. His eyes were red and watery with tears. It suddenly hit me, he was crying. I quickly pulled him into a hug again. “Jack listen none of this was of your doing.” I cried. I felt Jack wrap his arms around me. He squeezed me with so much emotion I was afraid he was going to crush me, but I didn’t show it. “I thought I had lost you.” He sobbed. “I’m right here.” I comforted.  He laid his head in the crook between my neck and shoulder. I could feel his wet tears as he pressed his face against my skin.  “I had a nightmare that you stopped believing in me.” He whispered. I leaned back so I could look at him. “Jack sweetie look at me.” I demanded. He lifted his head and looked at me. “None of that was real.” I explained. “I still believe in you….and I….I always will Jack, no matter what.” I cried. He finally smiled his contagious grin. “I’m glad to hear that.” He chuckled. I laughed with him until we both stopped once our face were inches apart. There was this almost magnetic tug that pulled me towards him. It was like something inside of me was assuring me to kiss him. He stared at me almost like he was waiting, then it hit me he was waiting for me to make the first move. I threw myself at him like I did earlier except this time it was not for a hug. I gripped the collar of his hoodie and pulled him forcefully towards me. I pressed my lips against his with as much love as I could muster. I felt him smile against my lips as we kissed.  “Looks like Punzie finally caught her Prince Charming.” I heard Merida say. I slowly began to pull away from Jack but he quickly pulled me back to him. I was a little surprised at first but eventually relaxed as I realized that he was kissing me. “Alright you two you’re going to have to come up for air eventually!” Merida laughed.
