Hiccup's P.O.V

The castle was now coming into view and Merida was becoming even more on

edge. We were walking on the bridge when suddenly Merida came to an abrupt

halt. "Merida?" I questioned. Her head was lowered so her face was hidden by her

hair leaving her current expression a mystery to me. "Do you think they will be

upset?" Merida asked me as she raised her head. "Of course." I sighed. "What do

you mean of course?!" She cried. "Well they are your family Merida." I explained.

"I suppose you're right." She sighed as she released my hand and began marching

towards the castle. She walked with that same overconfident stagger that she

always had while she swung her arms back and forth by her sides. I followed right

behind until we reached the castle doors. "This is strange...." Merida trailed as she

pointed at the small village surrounding the castle. "What is?" I asked her. "Usually

the village is very lively at this time of day, but no one is out here." She explained.

She was right no one was out here, and it was quiet....too quiet. "We should check

inside, I have a bad feeling about this." I stated as I pushed on the large castle

doors. Once they were opened we walked into the main hall and again we were

greeted by an overwhelming amount of people. They seemed to be arguing

amongst themselves. It was so loud and crazy in there that no one had even

noticed that we had entered the room. Merida stood completely still as she

scanned the room, for what I assumed, her family. "Over there." I called to her as I

pointed towards the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Above three redheaded

boys swung from the chandeliers expertly. Their clothes were stuffed with what

looked like cakes and pastries. "The Vikings of Berk were attacked by an unknown

enemy!" A clear voice shouted. The name of my home gripped my attention, and

soon I was completely focused on their conversation. "What if they come here

next?" Another voice questioned. "Let them come! We have all the clans already

here! They won't stand a chance!" various people shouted. "Hamish!" Merida

called. Her younger brother's head snapped towards her the moment his name

left her lips. His whole entire being lit up once his eyes met hers. He motioned his

brothers over and they descended from the chandeliers. They charged towards

their older sister and hugged/tackled her to the ground. Merida fell over laughing

as she embraced her brothers. "Where have you been sis?" They all asked unison

as they finished their hug. "I was on an adventure." Merida chuckled as she ruffled

her brother's hair. "I see you've been busy..." She trailed as she gestured at the

cakes and goodies that were now all over the floor. The triplets all grinned at their

sister as they climbed off of her and tried to pick up the remaining goodies that

weren't completely inedible. "We learn from the best!" Hubert exclaimed as he

shoved pastries up into his shirt. "Where's Mum?" Merida asked them. "She's in

her room; she really hasn't come out since you left." Harris explained. Merida's

expression instantly saddened as this was brought to her attention. I placed my

hand on her shoulder and helped her up from the ground. "Go." I suggested. She

nodded her head and turned towards the stairs leading towards her Mother's

chambers. As she reached the top of the stairs she stopped and glanced back at

me. "Go on, you can do it." I mouthed. She grinned at me and gave me thumbs up

as she disappeared from view. I let out the breath I was holding and let out a deep

sigh. "Who are you?" A voice questioned. Quickly I turned towards the voice and

saw that a small crowd had gathered behind me. "Uh hi..."I trailed awkwardly. "Ay

who let the fishbone in?" A man with a heavy accent asked. "I didn't let him in."

The guard at the door stated as he was obviously rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.

"Sleeping on the job again huh McLeod?!" Fergus bellowed as he pushed through

the crowd. I immediately straightened as Merida's Father and I made eye contact.

"Hiccup?" He questioned. "Uh hello sir." I greeted. The large man grinned widely

and patted me roughly on the back. Normally I would flinch at his rough greeting

but as a Viking I was used to it by now. "How are ya lad?" he asked as he pulled

me through the crowd towards the front of the room. "I've been better." I

chuckled uneasily. "That's good to hear!" He exclaimed. "Everyone this is Hiccup

he is the son of Stoick, the chief of Berk, who is a great friend of mine." He

explained to the clans in the room. Suddenly everyone was silent as their King

spoke. "I'm sure you're wondering where my lovely daughter is? Sadly she has

been missing for quite some time now..." Fergus choked out. As I looked amongst

the crowd I saw that their faces were genuinely sad. They feared for their princess,

they missed her. "Actually....She's been-." I interrupted but stopped once all eyes

were on me. I laughed awkwardly and opened my mouth to explain further but

was cut off by a scream. "Merida?!" a voice shouted from upstairs. Instantly

Fergus began sprinting towards the voice and the entire clans behind him and I

behind them. The hallways were now completely crowded and nearly impossible

to walk through, but of course I managed. Everyone was outside a room, which I

assumed was Merida's mother's chamber. I peeked inside the room to see that

Fergus and his wife were embracing their daughter. "Merida we were so worried

about you." Queen Elinor stated as she combed her fingers lovingly through her

daughter's unruly hair. I smiled softly as I watched the spectacle. "I was fine Mum,

I was with friends." Merida choked out as she squeezed her parents even tighter.

"Who darling?" Her mother asked. "Don't worry I'll tell you everything, just hold

me a little bit longer." Merida begged. Of course her parents obliged and I took

that moment to take my leave. "I wonder how Jack and Punzie are doing." I asked

myself as I wandered back to the main hall.
