"Ella, you're doing so damn well" Colby shook his head in amazement. He'd been teaching me various swimming techniques for an estimated thirty minutes now, and I'd gotten the hang of things pretty quickly.

"You're a natural" he comments as I copy his breath stroke movement.

"Maybe it's because I dance" I reason.

"You dance?" Colby questions further.

"Yeah, a bit. It's self taught" I tell him.

"That's awesome" his face lightens in interest.

"It's fun" I confirm.

It falls silent for a short moment before Colby speaks.

"Want to hop out now? It's getting cold"

I hadn't even noticed, I'd been so occupied. "Yes, I'm pretty cold"

We paddle our way back in, and I find that it feels weird to be on land again after spending so much time in the water. Now I feel heavy. It was much more enjoyable in the ocean.

Colby runs ahead of me and grabs both of our towels. He passes me mine.

"Thanks," I say, "and thanks for teaching me how to swim" I add gratefully.

"You're welcome" Colby smiles.

After drying off a bit, I spread my towel back down on the sand and lay on it. Colby does the same beside me.

"Well. I have the entire afternoon to myself" he fetched his sunglasses from his bag.

"Same here" I told him, my face squished into my towel.

"Let's do something" he suggests with a glint of inspiration on his face.

"Like what?" I ask, propping myself up onto my elbows.

"Have you seen my exploration videos?"

I thought for a moment, "no, I don't think so but I'm aware you do them"

"There's an abandoned building not far from here we should explore" he says.

"Haunted?" I ask.

"No," answers Colby, "just abandoned. It'll still be freaky though."

"Sounds interesting," I nod my head.

I don't get along well with scary things, but I trust that I'll be alright if Colby is there.
