Our heroine sat huddled on the king-size bed, shivering, listening to the rain hammer against the window. Where was Sebastian, what was taking him so long? "Here we go." finally, he had returned with an armful of thick, wool blankets for them to wrap up in. It was so cold that Valerian could feel her lips going blue.

"T-Thank y-you." she stammered as he handed her a couple of the deliciously warm items.

Sebastian climbed in under the duvet beside her, tucking them both under the heap of blankets. Her ice-cold fingers brushed against his and he flinched with shock. "Val, you're so cold! Come here, let me warm you up." he took her petite hands in his, rubbing them together, trying to generate some heat. "Any better?" She tried to nod but instead, Valerian ended up shivering more. The loving actor pulled her into his arms, running his hands up and down her back, trying to banish the cold away. "Useless power cut. It's the coldest day of the year and we have no electricity. Oh, it's no use, there has to be another way to warm ourselves up."

Without warning, a sly grin spread across Valerian's chattering teeth. "I have an idea."

He raised his eyebrows, questioningly before sharing her grin. "Oh?"

"MmmHmm and it involves being under the sheets..."

"That is so, SO much better."

"Mmmm, I couldn't agree more."

It has been said before that Valerian and Sebastian were just big kids deep down and today's activities only supported that accusation. The two lovers lay side by side on the floor in their blanket fort, gazing at their blanket ceiling. They laughed at their cleverness like two naughty children who had stolen cookies from the jar.

Sebastian moved his head to the side so he could gaze at the beautiful face of his girlfriend. He loved the way her lips turned up at the corner when she was silently happy. He loved the way her eyes gleamed with mischief every time he and her did something others would deem 'childish'. He loved the way that she made him feel alive inside.

Rolling onto his side, he gently kissed her cheek, still watching her expression. Her eyes widened slightly at the surprise kiss but her smile widened at the sign of affection. "What was that for?" she giggled. Adorable.

"Because I love you."

She rolled onto her side to face him. "I love you too, Seb."

"Val," he took her hand in his, kissing her knuckles. "are you happy?"

Her smile faltered. "Of course, are you?"

He tenderly leaned in and brushed his lips against hers. "Always, especially when you're with me."

This made her giggle more.

"There's something I've been wanting to ask you for months, actually, I planned to ask you the night..." he fell silently at the memory of Jason's last visit. "Val, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I've, I've never felt like this about anyone before. I love everything about you, your smile, your laugh, your wonderful personality. Last night I looked up into the stars and matched each one with a reason why I love you. I was doing great until I ran out of stars. Val, 'I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.' So, I guess what I'm saying is...Valerian Ramona Constance Cassanova, will you do me the great honour of becoming my wife?"

Her hand rose to his cheek, caressing it gently as her mouth made an 'O' shape. "Oh, Sebastian." tears rolled down her cheeks. "Yes, of course, yes I'll marry you!"

Their lips crashed together as they melted into each other's embrace. Sebastian momentarily pulled away, breathing heavily. "'I was just going to say something, but I forgot when I started looking at you.'"

She laughed into his shoulder, wrapping her arms around his neck. "You're such a charmer."

"I'm your charmer."

"Forever."

"Forever."

"I do have a ring for you but forensics still have it."

"Oh." she laughed and wept at the same time.
