A picnic, that was what the surprise had been, an indoor picnic in the spare room of the apartment. The room itself had been transformed to resemble a forest. Fresh twigs (courtesy of the park nearby, where trees shed their spare branches on a daily basis) had been tried together to create a “forest” around the perimeter of the room. The ceiling had leaves blue-tacked to the it, with the occasional leaf hanging on clear thread to give the impression that they were in mid-fall. The usually shaded bulb had had it's cover removed and replaced with one in the shaped of a star (courtesy of a shade shop). On the wooden floor, a rug with the design of a forest's ground and upon that was a picnic blanket.

Sebastian had arrived home late that night and been absolutely overjoyed by Valerian's efforts. He couldn't believe the trouble she had gone to make him an indoor picnic. As they lay beside each other on the blanket, Sebastian smiled as Valerian curled up next to him, wrapping her arms around his waist, leaning her head against his chest. He loved how she snuggled into his t-shirt material. He kissed the top of her head, a gesture he did a lot. Sebastian could smell the peppermint shampoo she had showered in this morning. She smelt delicious. Like ice cream. At that thought, he chuckled to himself.

The thirty year old brunette could feel the low rumble of his laugh in his chest, she looked up at him, her nose brushing against his jawline. “What're you thinking about?” she whispered.

“Nothing in particular.” he continued to stare at the ceiling.

“Do you want to know what I'm thinking about?”

Before he was able to question her, Valerian's lips collided with his, the smell of peppermint filling his senses. When they had to gasp for air, Sebastian leaned back into the blanket. “I think I have an idea of what you were thinking...” he pressed his lips against hers once more before pulling away.

She shuffled even closer, closing the gap between them. “So, how did filming go today?”

He froze at this question. “It was okay.”

“Only 'okay'?”

“It was just,” he sighed. “I don't know.” he puffed out his cheeks. “It was just okay.”

“'Bastian?”

“Yeah?”

“Are you happy?”

He gazed down at her. “What?”

“Are you happy, you know, playing Bucky? Are you having fun still filming The Avengers?”

“It's okay.”

“'Okay'?”

“Okay.”

Valerian sat up, looking down at him in disbelief. “Sebastian, I'm trying to talk to you, you could at least try and respond.” she ran her fingers through her short brown locks. “Seb, what's wrong? Why aren't you content with your work?”

He sat up next to her, his head in his hands, tired. “I don't know, Val. It's just...it's just Bucky. I don't know, it's just weird, I can't...can't...”

“'Can't'...”

“Can't stand playing him any more. He's taking over my life.”

This was news to her.

Despite her surprise, he continued. “I wake up and go to the set and I'm Bucky. If a fan sees me, they want to meet Bucky. On chat shows, all they want to talk about is Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I just feel like that's all I'm going to be known for.”

“Sebastian-”

“I don't know if I'm cut out to play him any more, it's just too much now.”

She frowned. “It's just a phase you're going through.”

“I hope so, 'cause otherwise I'm going to have to give up on playing...” he couldn't even bare to say the name.

“Oh, Seb.” she held him close, praying that he would change his mind, that he would learn to love Bucky again. "He's a great character. People love him and when you got the part you loved him. What's changed? What about Chris? He's Captain America, he's forever being hounded by fangirls and boys. He's not having trouble like this. Why are you feeling so...resentful?"

He buried his face in his hands more. "I don't know, I want to stop feeling like this, I hate, I HATE being so, so confused. Should I play him or not, it should be that simple."

"Do you know what I think? I think you're tired, I think you just need to finish filming- there's only a few months left- and then take a vacation, take a break. You need to clear your head and just atep away for a bit. There's no harm in resting. Then, we'll come back to America, you can talk to your agent and get back to work, filming the next Cap film."

"What if I don't clear my head though? What if after a break, I come back and I still hate him?"

She hadn't thought of that. "I-I, well, we'll deal with that if it happens but for now, let's stick to the plan."

"Okay."

"Okay, I love you, Sebastain."

"i love you too."

"Dope?" it was their 'always'.

"Dope." 'always'.
