Sunlight streamed through the gap in the cream curtains, filling the room with pure, beautiful light. Sebastian lazily rolled onto his side, finding himself incredibly comfy in between the sheets. He was sure that he could sleep there forever if he was given the choice. He breathed in heavily the heavenly scent on his pillow, shampoo and black pepper. Valerian's scent. He stretched out his arm, thinking that he could drape it around her waist but his arm connected with more sheets. Opening his heavy-lidded eyes, he found himself alone in their bed. Where was she?

He slipped out of bed and stretched, assuming that she was in the kitchen, making breakfast. She made the most wonderful breakfast. With that sweet thought in his mind, he wandered to the said room, imagining Valerian's smile when she noticed him watching her.

When he opened the door to the cooking area, Sebastian frowned, Valerian was nowhere to be found. He stepped over the threshold and glanced around the room. Everything was still in it's place, which was odd. Valerian would have been up by now, where was she?

Something on the fridge caught his eye, it was the calendar. There was something written in red on it. Sebastian took a step closer, curious to know what it said. He carefully read the scrawled handwriting, recognising it as his own. He frowned. The message didn't make sense. It read:

'PICK UP VALERIAN'S ASHES'.

He was going to be sick.

It was all too real, he couldn't believe this was happening. Running to the bathroom, he soon found himself emptying his bile into the toilet bowl. Lifting his head once he was done, Sebastian unsteadily stood up to wash his mouth it in the basin but as soo. as he caught a glimpse of his face in the mirror mounted on the wall, all the memories came flooding back. As they did, he vomited.

Finally, when he felt as if he had nothing to heave, he began to attempt to stand up but his body had other plans. Before he even fully stood up, his knees gave way, causing Sebastian to collapse to the ground and crack his head on the basin in mid-fall. He groaned as he hit the floor, his head pounding.

The telephone rang, adding to his distress. Who could it be? Crawling out of the bathroom, the Marvel actor pick up the wireless handset from it's stand and clicked the answer button. "Hello?" he asked in a husky voice, wincing in pain. His throat felt sore.

"Hello?" a female voice questioned back. "Marshel?"

Sebastian frowned. "Who?"

The person on the other end of the phone cursed at their mistake. "I am so sorry, I think I may have the wrong number."

He rolled his eyes, irritated. "Yeah, I think you do."

"You don't by any chance have anyone living with you called Marshel?"

"No." he said a little too forcefully, not wanting to talk to the woman.

"Huh...okay, well..." she paused. "Sorry for disturbing you." the lady hung up. Thank goodness.

Sebastian tossed the phone aside with a sigh. What a day it was turning out to be.

"What do you mean they've got her ashes?!" he was livid, no more than livid, furious.

The small woman looked at him fearfully, her eyes wide as saucers. "H-Her family came to collect her ashes this morning, they said the were planning to split them and then scatter each portion separately."

"Did they mebtion about giving any to me?!" he demanded to know.

She shook her head, adjusting her red, plastic glasses. "Th-they didn't mention your name."

Before she could continue, Sebastian was already leaving the funeral palour, muttering the words, 'I bet they didn't' under his breath.

As he pulled up outside James Cassanova's home, he paused, watching the house through his car window. The home itself was nice, brownstone on the outside, chrome and sleek on the inside. It felt like only yesterday that he and Valerian had been sat at the kitchen table, discussing Isla's birthday. How long ago that was. Knowing that he was not welcome, Sebastian opening the door and began to make his way to the home.

He stood on the porch, pausing, trying to work out what he was going to say. Finally, the brunette male knocked a few time on the navy blue, chipped door. Waiting for someone to answer it. Eventually, he camw face to face with Chris Evans. They regarded each other warily for a moment. It had been months since the two men had seen one another. The last time had veen at Valerian's funeral. Sebastian's chest constricted at the thought.

"Hello." the "Winter Soldier" greeted the other male calmly.

"Captain America" stared at Sebastian for several moments before repeating the same greeting. "Hello."

An awkward pause.

"I...I went to the funeral palour." Sebastian began. "They, er, they said that you all had gone to collect Valerian's ashes."

Chris nodded.

"Look, Chris-"

"Mark and James are planning to scatter her."

Sebastian sighed. "I know that but-"

"But you want to as well? After everything you have done to this family. Do you thinks that's a good idea?"

The darker-haired make looked at Chris with pleading eyes. "I just have a place that I know she'd like to be left."

"So, tell me and James can put her there."

Sebastian shook his head. "This place was special to her and I."

"But the was no you and her. It was her and you, you and Arrabella." the blonde male sneered.

He had a point.

"Please, please just ask them for me. I'm begging you. I'll take the bit I'm given and I'll leave you all alone, I promise. You'll never hear from me again. Please, Chris, it was special to us."

Minutes passed in silence. Sebastian's words hung heavy in the air. Finally, Chris had an answer for Sebastian. "I can't help you." then, he shut the door, leaving Sebastian standing on the porch.

Tears began to steadily pour down Sebastian's face. What a day it was turning out to be.

Back home, Sebastian walked into his and Valerian's apartment with a heavy heart. He threw his keys on the table in the hallway- the one Valerian had brought for just that purpose. He hung his jacket up (the one that had inspired the first chapter of Isla's fanfic), upon the coatstand Tabitha and Chris had given to Valerian and Sebastian as a 'Congratulations On Filming' present.

He noticed that the answering machine's red light was blinking. Sebastian pressed the button.

"One new message." the automated voice declared.

There was a beep.

"Hello, Marshel? It's Slate here. Give me a call. It's important."

Sebastian pressed the button again. "Message deleted."

What a day it was turning out to be.
