Brayden's POV

I was walking through town to get some fresh air and just think about life. I walked past the greenhouse and I shuddered. I don't know if I'll ever be able to go back there without feeling paranoid.

I was walking past a newsstand and saw a headline on a newspaper that caught my eye.

Strange phone calls

People around town are receiving strange, anonymous phone calls and being targeted afterwards. If you are getting phone calls late at night from an unknown number do not answer it. If this happens to you, I advise you stay safe and notify the police. Thank you for reading. Stay safe everyone :)

Apparently I'm not the only person getting these phone calls. I decided to text Emery about it and ask her if she had heard or gotten a strange phone call.

Brayden: Hey Emery have you gotten a strange phone call lately?

Emery: No. Have you? I heard Corbyn and Leah have though.

Brayden: really?

Emery: Yeah, Leah told Jonah and Jonah told Daniel and Daniel told me.

Brayden: wow so much for keeping secrets 😂

Emery: we are all friends so it's fine.

Brayden: true

Emery: you should ask Leah or Corbyn about it and see what they say

Brayden: ok I will

I didn't want to text Corbyn since I had just bothered him yesterday so I decided to text Leah.

Brayden: Hey, I heard you got a strange phone call.

Leah: Really. Jonah wasn't supposed to tell anyone.

Brayden: well he did 😂

Leah: I'm gonna have a chat with him later. But yeah I got a phone call and it was creepy, I jump every time the phone rings now.

Brayden: me too, do you have any idea what it's about? I just saw a newspaper article about it.

Leah: not exactly but I sort of have a hunch I just don't want to talk about it over text.

Brayden: we should meet up.

Leah: yeah we should.

Brayden: where do you want to meet?

Leah: how about at Starbucks in 15 mins.

Brayden: ok sounds good see you there.

Leah: ok see ya :)

Conveniently, I was really close to Starbucks so
I got there in a few minutes. I went in line and got an iced caramel coffee and I saw Tyler in line too.

"Hey, how do we keep running into each other like this?" He asked laughing.

"I don't know," I said smiling. I looked at his drink, he had a pumpkin spice latte which has been his favorite flavor since he was little.
