Nervous

"Let's go tomorrow."

A passing car whirs by in the distance. Jimin hears it, almost louder than Jungkook's whisper beside him. He flinches slightly at the intrusion on the silence they bask in, but his tired limbs relax again against the other. An arm holds him loosely around the middle and he'd figured they might sleep here, sticky and nude. "Huh?" He mutters in response. Jimin feels a little bit surprised when the younger seems to come back to life, finally making more movement than it takes to breath. Lately, Jungkook's been exhausted, picking up shifts and spending more time awake than he should. Sex must have taken everything he had left, at least that's what Jimin thought, smiling softly as the man tightens his hold around his waist. "Go where?"

He can't believe they've put it off, letting busy schedules interrupt what should feel like a priority, but it doesn't. Falling in love young can make a person feel grown before they really are, but Jungkook feels like he could conquer the world with only Jimin at his side. He feels more than older than his age. He feels capable and prepared and certain of his future, and that's a lot more than he could ask for. With graduation coming soon, an engagement ring on Jimin's finger, their future together feeling greater than a promise, Jungkook knows they need to tell their families. "To see your parents."

"Tomorrow?" Jimin lifts his head from Jungkook's chest, looking up at him with every bit of his surprise on his face. He thought the trip would be postponed until they graduated, letting it go forgotten because the younger was so busy, so exhausted. He didn't want to add pressure on the man's shoulders. Although strong, they carry enough. Jimin wanted to work on freeing them of anything stressful and he knows that includes involving their parents in such a life changing event. For them, it doesn't feel like anything more than what should be. It feels like freedom to be together, always. Getting married feels like the socially acceptable limit of how far two people can go to showcase their feelings for one another, a ceremony meant to celebrate their love towards one another and the coming together of two people who vow to live life as one unit. United by law and by heart, but it feels like a simple step into the rest of their lives. Jimin can't imagine a life without Jungkook. He doesn't believe in a life without Jungkook anymore, so marriage doesn't make him nervous. Marriage will make his parents nervous, though. That's what makes his stomach turn.

"Are you nervous, love?" Jungkook notices the way the smaller bites his bottom lip, tensing slightly in his hold. He turns to face Jimin and smiles as he brings their bodies closer. The leather seats stick to their skin and it's uncomfortable and they should go back to his place to shower, cuddle up in bed, talk about this there, but they stay, vulnerable to each other after spending too much time holding pieces of themselves back. Jungkook lifts his hand to pet back the hair from Jimin's forehead. He drags his fingers slowly through the boys locks and circles around to cup his cheek. "You don't want to go?"

He does. He misses them, his parents. He misses them even when he calls them almost every day, because a phone call can never replace a warm hug or a homemade dinner. "No, I do." Jimin says quickly, resuming the assault to his bottom lip. They're going to think he's crazy. They like Jungkook, are content with him, accepting of their relationship after everything they've been through. They wouldn't object, because they know they couldn't, but his stomach remains in knots over the idea of telling them of their intentions to marry. They don't even have a date planned, much less any details to be thought of. Weddings are expensive and planning them is stressful and he can already hear his mother commenting under her breath about how fast everything is happening. It's not fast. Not at all, but she hasn't lived through the slow moments of their relationship. She wasn't there when it took, what felt like, one hundred years to find out if Jungkook was okay, to see him after he'd been shot. She didn't experience horrifying confinement, anxious over Jungkook's every thought and motion, afraid more for what the man would do to keep him safe rather than for his own safety. She didn't feel every slow second of every day he'd spent running away from Jungkook. She hasn't missed Jungkook, so she sees fast, she'll say it's fast and she'll try to disagree. But, she doesn't know how long they've needed this, the security of marriage, the promises it entails. "My moms going to think we're dumb, you know. So, I'm nervous, yeah." Jimin flutters his eyes open to meet Jungkook's half lidded ones, letting a soft smile grace his abused lips. "Just a little bit, though."

Jungkook smiles back, leaning in to peck Jimin quickly on the very tip of his nose. He gains a small giggle, amused by the sound, relieved by it. "Just a little bit nervous, hm? That's okay, Love." It's a relief, a lifted burden from his shoulders to be able to identify Jimin's emotions and to find clear meaning behind them. He loves knowing Jimin better than he's ever known anybody else, to understand how he feels with a glance at his expression and a gaze into his eyes. Everything is explained to him with the simplicity of reading an open book. These are his favorite moments, the most remarkable. "Me, too."

"But it's okay."

"It's okay."

Jimin's eyes close into crescents, puffy cheeks lifting with a grin fueled by mixed emotions. Good ones, pure. Happiness dances inside of his squinted eyes. There's a big difference between feeling nervous to fail and anxiety over others unknowledgeable opinions. Feeling nervous doesn't take away from his excitement for tomorrow. The road trip, the way Jungkook will undoubtably lace their fingers together and hold them on his thigh, letting Jimin control the radio and smiling when he sings along. The family time, introducing Jungkook again to his parents as his fiancé instead of his boyfriend. The wholesome way the entire day is going to make him feel, he can feel it already. Excitement intermingles with his nerves and Jimin's heart flutters. Every little thing is going to be okay. "B-but,"

Jungkook raises an eyebrow at the smaller, waiting patiently for him to continue. "But?"

Jimin licks his lips, cheeks falling slightly to feature a bit of a concerned smile. He chuckles lightly. "We should pick a date."
