Chapter 56

Arnav held his breath. The glance Jay gave him created goosebumps all over his body. He asked again. He actually didn't want to hear what Jay has to say, but he knew also he needed to hear the words again.

>>Evil things?<<

>>Yes, evil things.<<

>>And what exactly?<<

Arnav didn't want to push too much, but he needed to find out as long as he was brave enough to face the reality.

>>I can't tell you exactly, sir. I wasn't there, but my brother was. He has a small ceramic shop in Lucknow. It was him who found Khushi and helped her. He didn't told me what happened exactly, but I knew it the moment I saw Khushi that something very bad happened to her.<<

Arnav was shocked. He didn't know what to say or how to react to what Jay's revelation.

>>Have you seen the scar on her head?<< Jay's asked Arnav but he was so deep into his thoughts that he managed just a small reply.

>>Huh?<<

Arnav looked up to Jay. What scar did this man mean? He asked himself and fought in the same moment with upcoming nausea.

>>What scar?<<

Jay touched the back of his head and showed him with his hand that the scar was there.

>>Khushi's hair is probably long enough so that no one can see what is underneath, but when she came to me, there was a huge cut that looked half healed on her head. She wasn't very communicative, but through her look and behavior I put one and one together.<<

Jay took a little break and seemed obviously to fight with his feelings before he continued to tell Arnav everything he knew about the past.

>>My brother Hari Prakash didn't tell me till today what had happened to Khushi, but he told me to take care of her and that she was alone and can't never go back to Lucknow again.<<

>>When she came to our house I saw her broken soul. Me and my wife, also our kids tried a lot to create trust, but she never allowed herself to just be part of our family.<<

>>Is she speaking less? Or is she still totally silent?<<

Arnav nodded, gulping hard and listening to Jay's words. Even it was painful to hear what Khushi had gone through and obviously was still going through a lot, so he forced himself to continue listening.

Jay breathed in deeply and continued his story.

>>She was deeply traumatized. She ate hardly in the beginning and never talked. I brought her to the doctor, but she didn't even look at him and I don't even need to mention that she didn't speak to him.<<

>>I don't know how it came but after a while I remarked that she wanted to be alone. Khushi was extremely tensed around us. Then we intentionally left her to be alone and saw the progress in her behavior, but not in the way we hoped.<<

>>She started eating and cleaning the house, taking care of her look and such things. It was all good, but she didn't make any progress with us. In fact it became worst. It was like Khushi was at peace with herself and we were invaders. It was totally clear that she didn't trust us and has extreme problems to be close with other people.<<

>>I know Khushi is a good-hearted person and I know she doesn't want to hurt anyone intentionally. The psychologist couldn't help and we didn't want to put her into situations which could make everything worst.<<
