Chapter 40 ~ Parents

~ Ali's POV ~

"Hey, you know we didn't go this year..." I said, drying my tears.

"Yeah, you wanna go then?" She asked. I nodded.

"Are you sure?" She asked.

"Yeah, it could be my only chance." I said getting up.

"Okay, I've got a 2 coats by the front door, go out one on, I'll just turn the lights off." She said.

I nodded and went to the front door. I saw the coats and put one of them on. Damn this was warm. Warm and cosy. Just like... Snap out of it Ali.

Adri came to the door and I passed her the other coat. She smiled as she opened the door. We both stepped out and she locked the door.

"Last year was hard when we went." I remembered.

"I know, but I'm right here." She said. I smiled at her.

We started walking down the apartment stairs and out the door.

She took me down secret alleyways so we wouldn't be found.

We then arrived a bit later on...

She took my hand and put her other arm round my neck.

I stared up in sadness.

I then walked to the front door and opened it. It creaked like always and I stepped in carefully. I ran my fingers along the wall and saw how much dust there was.

"It's dustier than usual." I sighed. Adri flicked the dust balls.

"Yeah." She said.

I then went into the living room and sat on the floor with Adri.

Every year I reached for the picture that was on the wall and took it off.

I sat down opposite Adri and looked at it.

"I'll never forget this." I whispered, stroking my parents face.

Adri came round behind me and put her arms round my neck.

"Adri..." I started.

"Yes Ali?" She answered.

"I've never asked you this before but...Do you think they will ever come back for me?" I asked.

She turned me round so I was facing her and stared into my eyes.

"They will come for you Ali, that's what they said." She said.

"But it's been over 15 years.." I said. "If they could come back, they would have already."

"What was the last thing they ever said to you?" She asked.

"We will come back for you Ali, we promise." I said. "Never give up."

"Exactly." She said. "They will return Ali, just like you did."

"How do you make me feel better?" I asked.

"Your always doing it to me! I learned from the best." She chuckled.

I smiled at her.

We had been back at the apartment for a while now and we were watching the TV while playing a board game.

Just then there was an important news flash.

"We interrupt this program with an important message: A girl named Ali Jones has been missing for nearly 24hours. She went missing near Littles Physiology about 23 hours ago. Police say she ran towards green street but were unable to track where she went after. She has brown curly hair, she is wearing leggings and a top which is pink. If anyone should see her please report her to the local police, thank you and back to the program...."

"How did they know I was in Green Street?" I questioned.

"They must have some kind of tracker." She said.

"Well...I don't care, I'm not going back to them." I said.

"Ali..." she started.

"I've made my decision." I said.

"But why?" She asked.

"Did you know they get paid to have me?" I said. She gasped.

"They do? How much?" She asked.

"I don't know, but when they kidnapped me they took me to a building where a man was talking to him saying something about, you will why your pay every Friday." I said. "They just used me to them a boyfriend."

"But, you can't just give up on them...You can't hide forever." She said.

"I can from them... I really can't go back Adri." I said.

"I said I would back you up anyway. You can live with me if you want." She smiled.

"Yes please." I smiled.

"Just...if you ever change you mind...just say okay?" She said.

"Okay, I promise." I smiled.

~ Alex's POV ~

I was hoping that message got to her. Where the hell would she be?

"I swear she is in so much trouble when I find her." I growled.

"Alex, no." Lloyd said, pulling me back.

"What? She ran, she's a naughty piece of crap." I angrily said.

"Alex, how could you say that about our little?" Lloyd asked me sternly.

"Because it's true, I swear I won't be able to control my anger when I find her." I angrily said.

"You can't do this Alex, can't you just think about her and not you for once?" He angrily asked.

"WHO ASKED YOU?" I shouted.

"IM HER DADDY AS WELL!" He screamed.

"I ADOPTED HER, NOT YOU!" I screamed.

"HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT?!" He screamed.

"I CAN SAY ANYTHING!" I screamed.

"NO WONDER SHE RAN THEN!" He shouted.

"I NEVER HURT HER!" I screamed.

"MAYBE NOT PHYSICALLY!" He screamed.

I gulped a bit.

"What do you mean?" I gulped.

"If your her only Daddy, you find out." He said.

"Lloyd please." I begged.

"No, I won't let you hurt her again, it's no on Alex." He said.

"I haven't hurt her ever." I said.

"Maybe you haven't, but how do you know what goes on in her brain?" He asked.

"I'm her Daddy, I know her like the back of my hand." I said.

"You obviously don't." He said.

"I DO KNOW HER!" I screamed.

"WELL WHY HAS SHE RUN AWAY THEN?" He screamed back.

"IVE HAD IT WITH YOU!" I screamed. I jumped on him and started fighting him.

He pinned me down and kicked me all over.

"YOU DONT KNOW HER ALEX, YOU DONT KNOW HER AT ALL!" He screamed.

We both fought and fought until I felt myself being separated by someone.

He pulled us apart.

"LADS CALM DOWN!" He screamed.

Lloyd just stormed off and left me there.
