(7) Sanguine Synergy

"Is it terrifying?"

A bleak pause clogged Thanatos throat as the question hung over his head.

Terrifying. Was it terrifying?

He smiled, "Try vitalizing."

The boy across from him- not yet man, but still a bit juvenile rolled his eyes. Eyes that just a level shade lighter than his. Those eyes held a red that at once could enrapture millions of lungs. They were still so young, so ruby...

Aphotic crimson eyes closed briefly, but to the young one, they still looked to be opened and looking intensely into the space of chaos. "Anything else I should know about, other than your cryptic word choice."

The Jaguar in his chest tingled in his throat as he let out a low growl. The young one squirmed a bit. "Mind your manners, boy. Be patient- even if it's the last thing for you to master."

Finally he opened his eyes, they were never closed but they gazed towards his past in contempt. "Boy."

Younger Thanatos grit his teeth, "I am not a boy, old man."

At that, Thanatos smirked. He could understand why Hypnos wanted to flick him at any given moment. But what fun could that lead too?

Thanatos let a heavy exhale slide out of him as he adjusted himself in the chair. It was tall and dunked in the night's essence with brief trickles of silver shining in the arms. It certainly beat what Young Thanatos had sat down in. A plush gray throne. Too big to accommodate his small frame, making him look like a little cub in a pillowed nest. He pouted.

"I want you to look out for something, be weary..."

Young Thanatos leaned in further to hear Thanatos as his voice had a veil of haze added to the corners of his speech.

"Weary? Is there danger? What do I need to look out for?" Confusion laced his words as he watched Thanatos let out an ashy chuckle. He shook his head, the water in his mind swished like a bobble head.

"You could never be prepared..."

"What?" Young Thanatos stood up to look down at the crumbling man in front of him, panic surged through his veins. "WHAT!"

He grappled at the skin tight leather that tattooed itself across the expanse of Thanatos' broad chest. Ancient power electrocuted young Thanatos as he touched his future self. It coursed through his organs and palpitated his heart. "Don't leave me! What should I be weary of?! THANATOS!"

Again with the fucking head shake. He smiled, peaceful and serene, it only made Young Thanatos fill with dread.

"Beware of those Brisk Blues."
