"Dad?"

"Hi, D. How are you?" my father, Michael, wonders.

I don't respond to his unnecessary small talk bullshit. "What're you doing here?"

"I have a card for Anna," he apprises, holding up an envelope.

"Grad party was yesterday," I coldly inform him, crossing my arms.

"I know. I wasn't able to make it, so I thought I could just come by today and give it to her."

"Did you talk to Anna about this?"

"Well, no, but-"

"Then you have no business standing on my front porch," I interpose. "Leave."

"Audaire, I-"

"I said leave, dad," I spit, my tone like venom. "And don't let Anna see you do it."

"Please, kiddo. Can I give her the card?"

"Do not call me that," I demand.

"Please, Audaire," he corrects himself.

"No, you can't give it to her." I outstretch my hand. "But I can."

Michael nods, defeated. "Okay, yeah."

I take the envelope. "Since I'm doing you a favor, you have to do one for me."

"What is it?"

"Never contact either of us again."

Confusion is plastered across his face. "B-But I'm your father?"

"Hardly."

He exhales. "If that's what you want..."

"It is," I say, resting against the doorframe.

"Fine," Michael huffs, presently angry. "But you're going to regret this."

"Doubt it."

He scoffs. "You know, if you would've become a cop like you were supposed to, you wouldn't be such a bitch now. You'd have some respect."

"I've always been a bitch, dad," I disclose, a cynical laugh escaping my lips. "And I always will be."

"Is everything alright?"

That deep, sultry voice belongs to none other than Kim Namjoon.

I glance over my shoulder at him. "Everything is great." I look back to Michael. "Right, dad?"

Namjoon's eyes grow large. "Dad?"

"Mhm."

"Who are you?" Michael rudely inquires.

He comes to my side, towering over Michael's short stature. "Her boyfriend," he states. "Now that we have introductions out of the way, you gonna tell me what your problem is?"

"I don't have a problem. It's your woman who does."

"For someone who seems to care so much about respect, you have none for your daughter. Ironic."

Michael points to me. "She's the one who started this shit."

"Oh, you're mistaken," Namjoon chuckles dryly. "You started it when you abandoned your own flesh and blood for a new family."

My father opens his mouth to speak, yet nothing comes out.

"I think it's your time to go."

Without another word, he turns around and heads for his car, getting in and driving away. After Michael is out of sight, I relax my shoulders with a sigh of relief. Namjoon then wraps his arms around me, pulling me into a warm embrace. "Are you okay, baby?"
