~~~~~~~"Damian!"
Damian rose from the bed of straw he was kneeling on as he checked up on the new calf on the Kent farm. He headed outside to see who was calling him to find it was Martha waving at him from the front poarch.
"Damian, there's a phone call for you!"
This was new to Damian since he arrived at the farm a few months ago. He learnt later on the reason Clark brought him here and the fact that his family knew nothing about it. He was actually impressed with the Blue Boy Scout for once for the level of secrecy he displayed in spiriting him away. After he learned about his visit being a deception and having the choice to stay on the farm or leaving to go back home, he decided to stay in secret. Even if Clark and Jon weren't here all the time, he had the unfamiliar familial care from Ma and Pa Kent to keep him company. So to say he was surprised that there was a phone call for him was not an overstatement.
Damian picked up the phone suspiciously, "Hello?"
"Dames? Oh my gosh, I've been so worried about you! You disappeared so suddenly and I-I couldn't find you and it was like Jason all over again-"
"Richard, I'm fine," Damian said to reassure Dick, but inside he was a bit guilty for worrying his big brother. Dick was almost to the point of crying when he heard Damian's voice and Damian could hear him holding back his tears, the exhaustion and relief he felt from knowing Damian was okay.
"Are you having fun?" Dick asked.
Damian nodded concisely, "The Kent family have been wonderfully gracious hosts and pleasant company."
Dick was sad but relieved that Damian was safe and sound and not kidnapped or brought back to the League of Shadows like he dreaded. It had taken Clark a few weeks to be sure Dick was actually worried for Damian and then some time to figure out a safe and secure way of contacting Damian. Dick was back in Bludhaven and using the phone provided for him by Clark to ensure Damian's location was kept a secret. Dick spoke with Damian for almost an hour before they hung up. His exhaustion was catching up on him and for the first time in months he slept peacefully.
Back in Gotham, the Wayne Manor atmosphere was tense and like a string about to snap from the tension it was under. Bruce was trying to find his wayward son who he couldn't be sure wasn't causing trouble somewhere. Tim was doing his usual work and some of Bruce's since he was focused on finding Damian. Jason was out on a mission for the Outsiders and Alfred was roughly chopping up potatoes in the kitchen.
Bruce sighed from the stress he was under lately due to the viscous fight Dick and he'd had months ago.
"Do you not see how your attitude affects Tim's and Jason's perception of Damian and that allowed for this neglect to happen!"
Bruce had frowned, "He's still not quiet settled here and requires supervision until he can acclimatize into society."
Dick sighed and rolled his eyes to heaven like that would help convince his stubborn father.
"He's a child that has no idea how to socialize normally and needs the right attention and care to bring him out from that place!"
"It's been ingrained in him," Bruce sighed.
Dick's face was bright red in anger and he got right up to Bruce's face and yelled, "YOU DON'T GIVE HIM THE CHANCE!"
Alfred walked into the cave at this moment and looked particularly icily at Bruce and placed down his tea at his desk silently. Dick stepped back and growled, rubbing his face roughly with both hands and pulling at his hair in frustartion.
