I stayed in my room through the day, not quite deciding on leaving, but my bag was still packed and leaning against the door. I was listening to music when a knock on my door interrupted me.

"Who is it?" I asked rather aggressively, turning down my music and beginning to pull my hair up.

"Steve." Cap's voice said on the other side, making me raise an eyebrow.

"Come in."

As soon as Steve came in I could feel his frustration circling the room, he paced back and forth as I sat on my bed and watched. "What's going on?"

"Are you leaving the tower?" Steve seemed rather surprised, staring at the bag that sat near the doorway as he continued to pace. I didn't respond. "He's just trying to protect you." Steve said quietly as he stopped, looking at me with a huff.

"From?"

"Himself." Steve said, clenching his jaw. "We caught word that the UN wants to take control of the Avengers. Full registration for superhumans including all powers, complete oversight of our team. Tony, he... He supports it, I think."

I furrowed my eyebrows, "Why does that mean I can't be involved?" Almost a full minute passed without a response, "Steve." I said, more firmly. "Why?"

"Tony is afraid what that would mean for you." I furrowed my eyebrows, and Cap huffed, "I don't know everything, Dani. But I do know that you can do some things that seem impossible. And I think Tony is afraid others will notice. Or that you could get in trouble if something... pops up, especially during your solo work."

A laugh escaped my lips as I looked at Steve, leaning back on my bed. "I don't do anything special, Cap. I'm not you or Wanda, I'm a normal human. A human with an expensive suit."

"Do you honestly believe that, Dani? Or is that just what you've always been told?" He questioned. He licked his lips as he diverted his eyes from me. "I'm not sure, exactly, what it is about you... But I have a good feeling that Tony knows."

I opened my mouth, but no response left my lips. The truth was, I didn't really know. I had only ever had vague memories of my parents and my childhood, and some of those were... unrealistic, to say the least. Tony, and every therapist I had ever had, always chalked it up to the creative imagination of a child and I had always taken him for his word, but in that moment with Cap I faltered. I felt myself begin to question things. Small inconsistencies within my own life, became blaring red flags in a rather sudden fashion.

"I'll leave you to think, but do know." Steve paused at my doorway. "When Tony kicked you out of the Avengers, he kicked you off of his side. No matter what, no matter who tells me otherwise, I consider you my family and my ally.. My Teammate."

I did think, for what felt like moments but had actually been hours more. It was passed midnight when a soft knock on my door made me huff. "Yes?"

Loki opened my door, striding in and shutting it behind him. "You're still here." He stated. "And awake."

I nodded, my mind still wandering.

"What is it?" Loki now asked, sitting on my bed.

I furrowed my eyebrows. "The day we first... encountered one another. When.. whatever it was that happened. Did you do that?" I questioned quietly, my gaze finally reaching Loki's.

"When you got in my head?" Loki questioned, making me nod. "I wouldn't have chose to share any of that with you. No." Loki's eyebrows were furrowed, the crease in his forehead deepening as he stared at me. "I had assumed you used a device of some sort."
