bruises › HUH YUNJIN ver.

Your entire body ached, even as you lay completely still in your bed. You had stayed up the whole night, slipping in and out of sleep due to the pain you felt all over. It brought tears to your eyes every time you thought about what led you to be in this state.

FLASHBACK:
YESTERDAY

You grunted as you were thrown to the ground, your back colliding with the rigid brick wall behind you. The alley air was cold, making you shiver. Heavy puffs of air escaped you as your chest heaved up and down.

You looked up at the two girls looming over your figure.

One of them snarled as she looked down at you with her arms crossed. "We told you last time, and we'll tell you again: Stay away from Huh Yunjin-sunbaenim and we'll leave you alone." She snapped.

The girl beside her nodded along to her words, "Yeah. It'd be beneficial for both parties."

You scoffed and held your head high. "Yeah, as if that's happening. You're gonna have to try harder to deter me. Huh Yunjin is my fucking girlfriend, and if you think I'm going to break up with her because a pair of immature pricks beat my ass, then you've got another thing coming."

FLASHBACK END.

And the events following that exchange of words left you bruised. Everywhere.

With a heavy sigh, and a wince of pain, you got up from your bed and began to get ready for the day. After getting out of the shower, you threw on a pair of skinny jeans, an oversized hoodie, and a pair of sunglasses, before exiting your bedroom and walking into your dorm's kitchen, where you found your roommate eating breakfast.

"What's up, Y/NN?" Your roommate, Erin, called out.

You smiled at her and sat down next to her, where there was a plate of food waiting for you. "I'm good, you?"

"I'm great. Slept like a baby last night. What's with the shades?"

"O-Oh, I just have a really bad headache. You know." Then you both began to eat.

As soon as you stepped into the building, you made it your duty to avoid Yunjin. And it's not because those girls told you to stay away from her-you don't listen to bullshit like that-but because you didn't want her to see you like this. You didn't want her to worry.

So, throughout the entire day, you avoided Yunjin as much as possible, ignoring the pain in your heart that you felt when you caught glimpses of the hurt looks of confusion on her face whenever you ran away from her. You were starting to feel guilty about what you were doing, but then you remembered the state of your body. Occasionally, you'd catch the triumphant grins on the faces of the two girls who beat you up.

Finally, it was the end of the day for you at seven p.m., and it was time for you to head back to your dorm. Yunjin's day usually ends around three, so you didn't have to worry about running into her on your way home.

You tiredly turned the key in the knob and pushed the door open, immediately kicking off your shoes and setting your bag down.

You froze, however, when you made eye contact with Yunjin, who was standing in the middle of the small living room with a frown on her face and knitted brows.

You gave her a nervous smile and adjusted the sunglasses that were still perched atop the bridge of your nose.

"Y-Yunjin! What are you... What are you doing here?" You asked nervously.

Yunjin looked at you with a shocked expression, which soon turned to anger as she scoffed loudly. "You're gonna ask me that after avoiding me the entire day?" She threw her hands up before a frown won her lips. "Why, Y/N? Every time I came up to you, you would turn around and run the other way. I sat down next to you in the library and you stood up and fucking bolted out of the building! What is going on?! Did I do something wrong?"

You watched with a breaking heart as tears brimmed her eyes. You stepped back when she stepped forward to reach out for you. After seeing your actions, she stood still in her place, mouth agape. Finally, the first tear spilled over and rolled down her cheek, followed by more. It became a steady stream.

"Yunjin, I-"

"Do you want a break?"

You looked at her, shocked. But then you quickly shook your head and held your hands to your chest. "What!? N-No!" You yelled.

She shook her head and gulped, looking down for a brief moment. When she looked back up, she simply looked exhausted. "Then tell me why you're doing all this." She whispered. "Please."

You sucked in a harsh breath and bit your lip as you stared into her eyes. After several seconds of tense silence, you finally cracked. You reached forward and grabbed her by the wrist before gently dragging her to your room.

Once the door was locked and you made her sit on your bed, you saw that she had a confused look on her face.

So, at a slow pace, and with great hesitation, you lifted your hand and carefully removed the sunglasses from your face, revealing the dark black eye contrasting with your skin. Then, you took off your hoodie and pants.

As her eyes scanned over your body, they gradually got wider and wider, until she was fully gaping at your appearance.

"What the hell?!" She shouted as she stood from the bed. She stepped forward and placed her hands on your arms, taking a closer look at you, her eyes examining every bruise, every discoloration.

You looked down in shame. "I-I'm sorry for avoiding you. I really didn't want to, but I didn't want you to see me like this." You explained quietly.

Her face softened before she displayed a sad smile. She gently pulled you into her arms, wrapping them around your waist and holding you impossibly close.

"What happened, baby?" She whispered in your ear.

Tears brimmed your eyes as you let them flutter shut. You rested your cheek on her shoulder and let a tear escape your eye.

"Hwang Hyeja and Kim Rin-a. They've been threatening me to break up with you, but I never listened." You said. "Today... They decided to make things physical. You mumbled quietly, hugging her tightly.

A few more tears rolled down her cheek as she pressed a kiss to the crown of your head.

"Don't worry, baby. Let's just sleep. I promise you, when you wake up, you won't have to worry anymore."
