trainee logbook #1 › HONG EUNCHAE (pt. three)

Your hand was held tightly in Eunchae's. The older was gently stroking the back of your hand with her thumb. You were both trying your best to soothe each other's nerves.

Today is an evaluation day, episode six of the show, and you and the other trainees have been gathered in the studio for an evaluation, and two of you are going home-eliminated.

To flash back and recap before the evaluation starts, it's been over a week since you and Eunchae shared that kiss, and you're happy and thankful to be able to say that things aren't awkward. Something that made you slightly upset, however, is the fact that you and Eunchae haven't necessarily talked about it. At all. Yes, the two of you sneak quick kisses throughout the day, but nothing has bloomed from these sweet interactions, much to your dislike. The main reason being that you don't know how your company would take it if you and Eunchae were to become a couple.

So you've both stuck to not labeling it, and being sneaky with your actions.

"Okay, girls, it's time." Ko Hyungsoon called out into the microphone. He's the young founder and CEO of SUE. He was joined at his table by other executives, and all of them will talk together to decide which two of you will be cut from the lineup.

There's only ten of you left so far, and the final lineup is meant to be four members. That means that after this one, there are only two more episodes left in the survival show.

"For the first trainee to go home today..." He trailed off as he opened an envelope.

You all head your breath. You squeezed your eyes shut and tightened your grip on Eunchae's hand; she was no different.

And when Ko Hyungsoon opened his mouth to speak, you wish that he never did.

"L/N Y/N."

You froze when you heard your name, but only for a split second. Almost immediately, you crouched down and hung your head, pearl-like tears spilling over and rolling down your red cheeks, and loud cries left your lips.

You wanted the ground to open up beneath you and swallow you whole.

You couldn't believe it. After everything you've done and sacrificed and worked hard for, this is what you got. You left your family for this. You dropped out of school for this. You dropped everything, just for this to happen. You felt your entire world shatter around you.

You wanted nothing more than to run home and be wrapped up in the loving embraces of your family, for them to tell you that you did good. You tried. You pushed through it all and made it as far as you could-it just wasn't your time.

You were so in shock that you almost didn't register the arms that wrapped around your waist, nor the delicate tears falling onto the crook of your neck.

Eunchae was latched onto you, crying with you as she hugged you tightly. You opened your mouth to say something, but no words came out. What could you possibly say at a time like this? You couldn't do anything but weep.

"Oh my god, I am so sorry, girls," You and the other trainees looked up at Ko Hyungsoon, confused. "I was just informed that there was a mistake. L/N Y/N, you are not being eliminated. Again, I am so sorry for the scare." He sincerely apologized.

A breath of relief escaped you, coming out shakily. You heard Eunchae laugh, but it was also unsteady. She tightened her hold on you, and you hugged her back just as tightly. Since her back was to the cameras, she pressed a gentle kiss to the crown of your head.

She brings you the comfort that you want and need, and you're glad to have her in your life.

It was now the end of the day. Your heart had calmed down from the scare that was your accidental elimination, but after that, you couldn't even eat dinner-that's how sick to the stomach that event caused you to feel.

"How are you feeling now?" Eunchae asked you, her voice just barely a whisper.

As one can see, she also survived this episode of the show, thank goodness. You don't know what you would do if she got eliminated and left you on your own.

You brushed her bangs away from her eyes, which were shining brightly, even in the darkness of the bedroom.

"Oddly enough, my heart's still racing. It-... It felt like everything I worked so hard for was stomped on. It would all mean nothing from then on. I would lose my first chance, and I would... I would lose you." Your voice cracked.

It's honestly funny to you how much Eunchae has come to mean to you; it's miraculous how much of a special place in your heart she owns, and she might not even know it.

Eunchae cooed and pulled you closer to rest her forehead against yours. "Aw, you know you could never get rid of me, Y/N. And hey, you have a lot of talent, sunshine, it won't all go to waste because of some survival show. I promise. This is just beginning, and I know that there's a place in the industry for you. I know it."

Her voice was comforting, low and soft-spoken, gentle on your ears. You smiled. In turn, she brushed her lips against yours a couple of times, until, eventually, she kissed you softly. It was nothing more than a kiss that lasted a few seconds, but you felt the emotion in her actions.

"Thank you."
