Without you i feel broke

"Hey. Carina? Whats wrong? Why did you page me to the ER and there is no patient, why aren't you in scrubs... I am confused. Hello Maya." Teddy had pushed back the curtain to bay 3 and starred at Carina, who sat on the gurney. "Hello Teddy. I am not working yet. I start at 10, but i came in early, because i twisted my foot yesterday. It wasn't that bad at first and i kept walking on it, but it started to hurt worse." Carina said and pointed to her foot, which was swolen, so much it didn't fit into her boot. She had left the house without one and Maya had helped her to the car and then the ER. "I have to go. I'm so sorry, babe. The new Captain is coming today and i don't want to be late, as much as i hate leaving you." "Its okay. Go go. I love you. You are amazing." Carina gave Maya a kiss and smiled. "Bye. Love you." Maya said. "Bye Teddy. Take good care of my wife." She walked out. "Oh yeah. Right. Congratiolations." Teddy yelled. "How was it? I want to hear everything." Teddy pulled a chair up and tryed to move Carinas foot in a few different directions. "I don't think its broke, but its definatly sprained maybe you ripped a tendon. We will get x-rays and an MRI." "Okay. I have to get someone to cover for me. Do you think i'll be just late or should i get someone to cover for the entire day." "I'd say. The entire day, it is really swolen and bruised, you will need a brace or a cast, but we can't fit you for a hard one until the swelling goes down. A soft one for now probably, but that means no stepping on it. Now tell me how was the wedding." "Oh it was wonderful." Carina started and described everything in every detail to her friend.

"Hey Carina. Oh what happened to you." Ben greeted her at the front desk, as she hopped in with her new set of cruches. "Hairline fracture in the first metataseral and a slightly torn ligament. I twisted my foot yesterday, when we were walking from Vics parents restaurant to the ice cream truck." "Aow." Ben said and scrunched his face. "So whats the verdict?" "Probably 4 Days with the soft brace. It is pretty swolen and then 4 weeks ish in a hard brace, but i can step on that one. It will probably be like a boot." "Oh. I had one of those in middle school. I was so pissed, i wanted a cast like all the other kids, but i got this stupid boot. Now i know it is so much more practical and helps healing." "Yeah. The wonders of modern medicine." Carina smiled. "But until i get the hard brace, i am not supposed to work. So i decided to visit Maya and tell her, i'm fine, and then maybe hang out for a bid. And when you get called out, i will take an uber home." Ben nodded. "Sounds like a plan. Maya is in the Gym. She is in no good mood today." Ben sighed. Carina frowned. "Okay. I will talk to her. But i understand, that she is a little bid angry today." Ben nodded. "oh i totaly do, too." Carina took the elevator upstairs and headed to the Gym. She wasn't used to the cruches yet, and didn't like the movement, but she had to get used to it. She knew she would probably still need them for a little bid with the hard brace, so she tried her best and practice makes perfect.

"Bambina?" Carina said and starteld Maya, who was beating the life out of the boxing bag. "Oh hi. Don't you have to work?" "Not for the next 4 days." She pointed to the brace and the cruches. "Oh. No. I'm so sorry." Maya took Carinas face in her hands. Carina smiled. She loved the soft touches of the blonde. "Its okay. I have a hairlinefractur and a slightly torn ligament, but it will be fine." They talked a little while but  went to the lounge so Carina could sit down. Ultimatly Maya was called out and Carina made her way home.

The next Days were very boring for Carina. Luckily Maya had 48 hours of after her 24h our shift monday to tuesday, so she wasn't as lonely. Eventhough she was never alone. Either Andy or Kathrine were home. While she was on sick leave Carina helped Kathrine find a new Job and get in contact with her sister. At first that was a little bumpy. The sisters hadn't talked a lot for almost 30 years, but they were very close before and the conection was easily restored. Atleast a little. Kathrine found a teaching position at a Middle school in St. Augustine. She would live with her sister first and eventually move into a flat for herself. Maya and Carina had to promise to visit as soon as possible and they gladly agreed. Both Andy and Kathrine contacted respective lawyers to get the divorce up and running. Both women helped eachother immensly. Kathrine and Carina had also picked up on the habit of cooking and baking together. They loved the valuable bonding time as mother and daughter in law. Carina also told her that she used to cook with her mom as a kid and that she really appreciated that they were now doing that together. Kathrine had cryed a little. She loved Carina with all her heart and her heart broke a little when she heard that Carina had an abusive father aswell.

On Thurstday Carina got the hard brace and that helped her a lot. With the soft brace, everytime she accidently bumped into something or she made a wrong movement, it made her gasp in pain. With the hard brace walking was painfull at first, too, but it got so much better.

On Monday they said good bye to Mayas Mom. All three "roommates" had taken her to the airport and huged and waved her good bye. Carina and Kathrine had really bonded, so they promised to cook together via zoom soon.

A few weeks later on friday was a happy day. Carina got her brace off for good. The 4 weeks in the beginning had turned into six, when the update xrays weren't what everyone had hoped. And Carina was sick of the boot. Teddy took it of carefully and Carina let out a sigh. "Oh. I am so relieved." Teddy smiled and Maya squezzed Carinas hand tightly. "Now. You have to keep doing PT and be carefull. It might hurt for some time. If it doesn't stop in the next two-three weeks, we'll see again. No heels until you feel comfortable. But you know that." "Thank you, Teddy."
Carina smiled as she pulled her sneakers on and took Mayas hands, who helped her up.

The weeks flew by and although Maya hated Becket the new captain and she was still furious that everything happend as it has, she was mostly angry seeing her wife scared everytime she left her at the station. Being Captain ment not running into burning buildings a lot anymore. Which ment being save ish. But now, she was back to doing a dangerous job and Carina wasn't used to it. She hadn't known Maya before she got Captain and so she was deeply scared everytime Maya left for work. She knew how good her wife was and so she tried not to mention it or let her wife see it. But Maya knew all to well, what the small closely pressed lips the glassy eyes and the forced swallow ment. It was hard on the both of them.

An: So it is so awesome, how many already read my story. I am not used to this. I have a few stories online, but mostly german ones. I am german and so i did originaly write all my stories in german. But i watched station 19 and greys in english so i will write in english. Also i think that wattpad is simply more popular in english speaking countries.
Anyway, i never read the authors notes. So i don't suppose you will read it, if you do great.
A little bid about me. I will be 20 years old later this year. I work as a droped out of Uni, due to health reasons and i started working parttime as a one-on-one in a special needs preschool again in Feburary.
I will start at a special school in September to become (and there is now word for that job in English) a Heilerziehungspflegerin. That is something like a Kindergarten teacher but for kids with disability and you can also work with teens and grown ups.
I have been bingereading Marina and Station 19 ffs since September last year and if you ned recomendations, i can help. I love all of you guyses stories and i want to give one back. So here it is.
