Time of my life

A few days after the appointment with the fertility specialist they had an appointment with Jo. Carina was still sick and miserable almost all the time and so she hadn't been back at work. Jo perscribed her medication for the sickness and they hoped that that would help her generally. They also had their first ultrasound.

"Okay. Lets go. This is a little cold. But you know how this works." "Yeah we always say that, but it is actually really cold." Carina smiled, she had bags under her eyes, but Maya couldn't find her more beautifull than in this moment. "Okay lets have a look." Jo said. "Oh." Jo said and opened her eyes wide. "What? Jo? What oh?" Carina said, proping herself up on her ellbowes. "See for yourself." Jo turned the monitor and showed it to Carina, who almost had a heartattack. "Can someone please tell the not doctor here, what you apparently see in this black and white soup." "Here is one baby."  Jo said. "Thats the baby?" "Yes. And here is the second baby and the third." Maya almost fell of her chair. "Three????" "Yes. Bambina. Those are tripletts." Maya was too stunned to speak. "It is more common to have multibles with IVF." Jo said. "I know that. I just thought i'd be lucky with having even one." Maya said. Carina squezzed her hand. "If you want we can talk about reduction." "No." Both Maya and Carina said. "This is awesome." "So it seems like two of your babys share a placenta and one has their own. They each have their own amniotic sack, though." "What does that mean?" "It means not much. It is already considered a risky pregnacy, so that wouldn't change that. But three seperate amniotic sacks is good." "Okay." Maya nodded. "Wow. I am not sure what to say." "Me, too. But we can do this. I already love them so much." Carina said. "Maya gave Carina a kiss as she nodded. "Yes. Me, too."

It was already September and so the temperatures were starting to go down. However it was still quite nice outside and so the station decided to have a barbecue at Travis'. He had gotten himself a big barbecue grill and they had used it a lot over the summer. This time howeever Maya and Carina had plotted to tell the others they were having tripletts. They had asked Travis if it was okay, to invite some of the Hosptial staff. And Travis agreed. Amelia, Kai and Scout, Teddy, Owen, Leo and Allison, Jo and Luna and Maggie and Winston were there. The station and most of the doctors knew, Carina was pregnant. Or atleast assumed. They knew they were trying again and they knew, it must have worked, because Maya had told them Carina was so miserable. But they had no idea that its tripletts. Even Andy had no clue. The barbecue was 4 days after the wifes had found out themselfes and they had copied the ultrasound and circled Baby A,B C. They put it in envalopes and sealed them.

At the Barbecue everyone had already eaten and the vibe was great, when Maya went up to the music box and switched it off. Carina hit a glass with a fork. "Hey, Guys. So i am so greatfull that we can have this much fun outside of work together. We thought we could see this party as a little extra party for our wedding, because most of Carinas friends couldn't come. So thanks Travis, for letting us use your backyard. We have another thing we would like to share." Carina handed out the envelopes. There weren't enought for everyone, but they shared. When she came back to Maya, she smiled. "Open them." Carina said. Everyone pulled out the Ultrasound pictures and shocked faces spread across the crowed. Exept for Jo. She was very well aware off all of this. "Tripletts?" Bailey asked. Carina nodded. "We are having tripletts." Maya stated and Carina raised her arms to cheer. Maya hugged her and kissed her. Then everyone stormed up the porch to hug and kiss the soon to be mothers. "We are so happy for you." Teddy and Owen  said. "Wow. Three babys. I wish you great luck." Amelia said and laughed. "We will need it." Maya said.

The weeks went by and Carina felt way better with the medication she had gotten from Jo. She was able to go back to work. At 9 weeks they had another appointment. Maya and Carina were very tense, because they had lost their first baby at that age, but the triplets were fine and healthy. "Do you want to know the sex?" Jo asked.
Maya looked at Carina. "I think we should. It is already going to be hard to pick three names." "Yes. I agree." "Alright." Jo said. "So baby A is a girl. So is Baby B.  They are identical, they came from the same embryo it has split and formed into two babys." Maya nodded. Carina smiled. "Okay. And Baby C is fraternal. So that means she came from the other implanted embryo." "She so three girls? " Carina asked. "Yes look for yourself." Jo turned the monitor. Carina was already crying. She was doing that a lot. "I am just so happy." She said through the sobbs. "Yes. Me, too." Maya said. "We are going to be in a hell of trouble in aproximatly 12 years." "Oh believe me, they are going to show us, who is the boss the minute they are born." They laughed.

"Three girls." Andy said. Carina had taken Maya to work and they decided to tell the station at breakfast. "Yes. Three girls." Maya said. "Wow. You are going to be in a hell of trouble." "Oh thats what i said." Maya said and pointed to her brain and Andys. "Well i just wish you the best. And i am always there for you." "Thanks." "We are,too." Travis said. And the rest nodded.

The time flew by and Carinas belly grew very fast. That was normal considering there were three babys in there, but it also ment that she was getting exhaused quite fast and almost always had a sore back. Maya did her best to eleviate some of the pain, but Carina wasn't complaining to much. She was mostly happy that all the girls were doing just fine.
