"Oh Mamma, good that you are home." Nina said. "Hey. What happend?" "Mom threw up in your bed. She is still not doing very well. I got her in the guest bedroom and put your covers in the laundry, but i don't know how to turn the machine on. And i don't know where you keep fresh covers and sheets." "Oh Bellina, you didn't have to do this." "I have cleaned up vomit more times, than i can count and not my own." Nina said. "Yikes." Carina pulled her nose up. "I am worried about Mom. She is so shaky and has no balance. And its been over a week." Nina said. "I know. But that is the thing with concussions. They last very long. Two weeks usually for adults, but they can last up to three months and your Mom has got a pretty bad one. But there is nothing we can do, other than let her rest, make sure she doesn't hurt herself with the little balance she has, that she drinks and eats and give her painmeds." Nina nodded. "Don't worry, your mom is tough. She will be as good as new soon." "Okay." Nina sighed. "I'm going to check on her and then we'll get everything ready."
Maya was feeling better after taking another round of medication and sleeping for a few hours. So she joined Carina and Nina in the festivity preperationes. It smelled great in the house. Carina had lucked out and had both days off, so she decided to wipp up a full italian meal. Which consists of a Anti-pasti, for which she prepared baked vegetables in balsamico and cured meats and cheeses. Then pasta, she decided on Carbonara, which was a family favorite. She had made the pasta in the afternoon and got all the ingredients ready. She would finish the dish right before they ate it, because that is when it tastes the best. Then a meat-dish. For which she made a Chicken-risotto. That was fully prepared, because it needs to sit for a while to get the sticky texture and for last dolce. She had made panettone, a kind of sweet bread with candied fruits in them. Torrone, a nougat made with honey, sugar and a variety of nuts and torelini, a crescent shaped pastrie filled with jam or nutella. The nutella ones were definatly Carinas favorite.
They had also brought in the tree. It smelled great and brought something fresh to their livingroom. Maya had been ordered to sit on the sofa and so she sat and watched Carina and Nina struggle with the stringlights. It was so funny to watch and Maya laughed a real laugh for the first time since she got hurt. Once they got the lights up, they put the balls and ornaments on the tree. Maya barely ever had a tree when she was a kid. Only when her mom got a tiny one and put some tinsle on it. Carinas family always had big trees with lights and balls and ornaments, but only warm white lights, not the colorfull ones. A christmas tree is something elegant and formal, the colourfull lights only make it look cheep, Carina thought. And the others didn't care and so they went with it.
The days were great and the kids loved their playroom. Other than that, they had gotten a few new books and hats and gloves each and Nina had gotten a new pair of Jazz shoes. Soon the year was over and the new year began. 2027. On the evening of the 5th they read the story of Befana and that made the girls super excited for the next day.
"Mamma. UP.up." Carinas arm was pulled at way to early hours of the morning. "What?" She said and opened her eyes. It was Meena. "Mamma. Fana come. We need to yook." "Sweety it is 5am. Why don't you come and snuggle a little." Meena thought for a moment. "Otay." But just ten minutes later she was moving again. "I tant seep. I am so excited. Please. ake up." Carina sighed. But then Maya moved. "Its okay. I'll get up with her. But Meena, we can't look yet, before your sisters aren't up." "Payoom?" Meena asked. "We can go in the playroom." "I love you." Carina said. She was definatly not a morning person. "Are you feeling okay?" She said, even in her half asleep state, she still worried about Maya. She had been way better, but sometimes still struggled with headaches and dizzy spells. "I feel great." Maya said. "Sleep." "Thank you." and Carina was back asleep.
An hour and a half Louise and Ellie were up aswell and together with Carina they walked down to Maya and Meena in the playroom. They already heard laughter when they reached the stairs down to the cellar. They had a great day. All of the girls got their candy. Nina opened hers when she woke up, but the tripplets couldn't wait that long. Nina didn't care. There was also a packet of chocolate for Carina. Special Chocolate from Italy. Maya had ordered it weeks before. "Oh. Thank you." Carina said and smiled. "Well is suppose you have been a good girl this year." Maya said and smirked. Carina swatted her arm, but smiled. "You have, too. But i am sorry," She looked at Maya. "Its okay. I get enough candy."
January went fast and that ment it was the tripplets birthday soon. Unfortunatly both Maya and Carina had to work that day and so they promised the tripplets a party the next weekend. Carina made a cake and they invited their family. They placed a system for their kids birthdays. They had already done it the years prior. Each of the girls would get. Something they need, Something they want, something to read and something to wear. This year the had gotten corderoy dresses for the girls as they loved to match right now. Instead of three new books, the gotten them three new tonies. They had just gotten a fair amount of books for christmas. Something they need they had gotten them a new little table to draw on. And something they want for Louise they got a childrens cuttlery set to help in the kitchen, for Meena a soccerball, which Carina insisted to refer to as football and for Ellie a few boxes of kinetic sand and tools to play with it. The girls were so happy with their presents and with their party. Louise had made the cake with Carina and was increadibly proud, when the guests told her, how good it tasted.
The days went by and the Deluca-Bishop family fell back in their routine after all the holidays they needed that desperatly.
