"A, B, C, D. A, B, C, D," Christopher chanted those four letters religiously "Kit, where did you learn that?" Ben approached his boy in the living room. "Y/n, she said we would do 4 more when she takes care of me again," Chris continued chanting the four letters.

Ben went to the mirror to tie his tie. "Daddy when is y/n coming again?" He approached his dad. "I don't know champ," Ben checked his watch. "I thought you were going out tonight." "I am, but tonight grandma and grandpa are taking care of you." The sound of Ben's shoes echoed through the wooden floor.

"But I don't want grandma and grandpa! I want y/n to take care of me!" Christopher raised his voice. "Kit, she's busy, she can't tonight." "But I want y/n!" Chris stomped his feet. "Christopher, don't raise your voice. I said grandma and grandpa are taking care of you tonight." Ben never liked talking to his son like that, but he couldn't allow his son to throw tantrums and always get what he wanted.

Chris, with his petit face, frowned in disappointment and went up to his room. In that moment, Ben's parents were arriving, he went to open the door for them. He greeted them with a hug. "Where's Kit?" Wanda asked.

"He threw a tantrum and raised his voice. He's upset and in his room," Benedict sighed. "Oh don't worry, he's only four. Children are like that." Tim patted Ben's shoulder. "Did you not give him ginger nuts?" Wanda teased Benedict.

He slightly chuckled, "No, he wants another person to take care of him." "Really, I thought he loved playing cars with his gramps," Tim jokingly retorted. "He still does, but he really liked the nanny I got for him last time I went to an event. He's been asking for her a lot lately."

"Let the nanny come, maybe we're too inactive for your boy. Call her and see if she'd like to come for a visit and play with Kit," Wanda told Ben. "Mum, I don't think-" Ben was interrupted by his sons begs. "Please daddy." He was on top of the stairs hearing the conversations. Benedict sighed in defeat and rang you.

**

Four months have passed, you have now become one of Christopher's favorite person. Every other weekend you'd go to the Cumberbatchs' residence and spend the afternoon with Christopher. Ben would sometimes tag along.

One of those plenty afternoons Ben had invited you to have dinner with them, you gladly accepted. Shortly after dinner you found yourself cradling Christoper to sleep. "Today was a tiring day for Kit," Ben spoke from the door as you put Chris in bed.

"Yes, he's usually wide awake after dinner," you put the covers over Chris' body. Ben cleared his throats and built of the courage to ask you a question, "Would you like to stay a while longer and have a glass of wine?"

You were unsure if you should take his kind offer, but you accepted anyways. One wouldn't hurt right? Instead of settling at the diner table, you two sat fairly far away from each other on the couch. The setting was warm and cozy. He had lightened up the fireplace and had comforting music in the background.

"Sorry to ask such an imprudent question, but how come you don't have children of your own?" Ben asked as he turned to face you on the couch. You slid the hair in your face behind your ear, "Well, to conceive a child, one must find her ideal partner. I haven't found mine."

"Really? How come an utterly beautiful, breath taking women like you is single?" Ben was genuinely surprised there was no one in your love life. "I don't know, I guess once we hit a specific stage they become frighten that we might actually form a family." You felt your cheeks warm up, not because you're blushing, but of embarrassment. You've always felt ashamed no guy has ever wanted to form a family with you.

"Would you like to have children?" Ben asked the question not intending to hurt you in any way. You sighed morosely, "Yes. I've always dreamed of having children of my own. One of the primary reason I studied to become a Kindergartner, to be around children all the time. Just seeing the joyous faces of our next generation always brings happiness to me. Yes, sometimes they are quite intolerable, but they're just kids, we've all been like that."

Ben has never heard someone talk like that about kids. Usually every women would say they're sticky and nasty little creatures. You, on the contrary, were different. Not only because you adored children, but there were other things that brought interest to Benedict.

The one cup of wine turned to a whole bottle of wine. He didn't allow you to leave and instead you stayed to talk almost all night with him. Nothing more, just a nice talk, where the both of you talked about things you couldn't talk about to anyone else. God knows at what time you finally went to bed. The next day you were awoken by the delicious aroma of pancakes.

During the course of the next 2 months you've been going to dinner at their house, only because Ben has invited. You nicely tried to reject his kind offer but he would always insist. God was that man a real persuader. Sometimes you'd think Ben was the one that wanted to see you and not Chris by the amount of times you'd stop by at their home. Your hypothesis was proven correct on afternoon.

You'd just gotten a text from Ben kindly asking you to come with him and Chris. He claimed Chris was the one that offered the idea of you tagging along. You've been close to them for the past 6 months, Chris just keeps getting more adorable every day, you couldn't say no to him. Sometimes you'd see him and, for the slightest moment, think of him as your own.

You arrived not long after at their front door, you knocked. "Y/n, please come in," he greeted you with an entrancing smile. "Thank you," you conjured up the shy smile of yours. "Y/N!" The tiny squeak of a 4 year old was heard from the living room. His little footsteps ran towards you. He bumped into you and tightly hugged your leg.

"Hello Kit," you picked him up and hugged him. He was rather surprised you were there. "Daddy are you going out tonight?" Chris' voice spoke towards his father. Benedict was caught off guard, "No, we, erm, uh-" "I thought we were going on a walk?" You cut off Ben.

"We're going on a walk? Can we get ice-cream? Please daddy, please," today was a day full of surprises for Chris. "Yes, go get your coat from the closet below the stairs," Ben pointed to the door under their staircase. You set Chris down, "I thought Chris wanted me to tag along," you said only audible for Ben.

Ben rubbed the back of his neck and slightly smirked. He was unbelievable, not only did he make up an excuse for you to do something with him, but  he smirked at you. That smirk that made everyones knees buckle. "Let's go!" Christopher jumped between you and him and broke the staring contest.

You grabbed one of Kit's hands and Ben the other. You went to the ice-cream shop near the park. There was a painfully long line. Ben volunteered to go in line while you and Chris waited for him somewhere else. A few minutes later, Ben was seen with two cones and a small cup.

"Here you go," he handed you your favorite flavored ice-cream and handed Christopher the cup with ice-cream. "Daddy what flavour did you get?" Chris was always looking at ice-creams he could possibly taste. "Just chocolate," Ben lowered his cone for Chris to have a taste.

"What flavour did you get mummy?" You stopped your movements, your eyes went wide and the acceleration of your heartbeat quickened. You'd never imagined what those words would feel like when you felt so much love for a child. You knelt beside Kit and brought him in for a lasting hug.

He always appreciated your hugs. "Chris," you caressed his brilliant hair. You didn't know how to break it to him that you weren't his mother. You feared too much chaos would erupt if anyone heard Chris calling you that. "I-I don't know how to-" you were immediately cut off by Ben.

He stood out his hand grabbing yours to pick you up on your feet. He brought you close to his body and looked down upon his son, "she'd be a lovely mummy, wouldn't she?" Without a warning, Benedict closed the gap parting your lips to his.

He, expertly, moved his lips in sync with yours. You still held onto his hand while your other arm was now on his chest. "I've got a mummy!" Christopher cheered as he saw you and Ben. You broke the kiss with your giggles. "Yes you do," you replied back to Chris, but staring deeply into the eyes of your beloved.
