Insomnia. What Could Be the Cause?

Sleep problems can be caused by an erratic lifestyle and/or stress.

Also, a possible cause of insomnia is changes in hormone levels, since sleep is directly related to cycle phases.

In the follicular phase, the body produces a lot of estrogen. This hormone helps you sleep better, increasing the deep sleep phase.

The luteal phase sees an increase in progesterone, which also has a hypnotic effect. However, the levels of both hormones change a few days before menstruation, which causes insomnia.

To get over this period smoothly, take outdoor walks more often, keep regular hours, and consume less fatty foods and caffeine.
