I romped down the hallway as if I was in a haze. I felt dizzy and everything around me didn't seem to fit in place. I could feel my own breath but it was shaky.

"Hey Starlight," barked Poultice as he bounded to my side. "Would you like to play a game with us?"

When I didn't answer Poultice tilted his head. "Starlight are you alright? You don't look so good?"

I looked back to Poultice but he suddenly took a scared step back. His eyes lit in terror and I knew that he wasn't expecting me not to answer. I wanted to answer but something just wasn't allowing me to. I staggered a bit on my paws and tried to take another step forward. However my legs gave out and I fell sideways.

I heard Poultice wail in shock before he darted backwards. "Thruster! Thruster help!"

I wanted to assure to him that I was alright but before I could say anything the whole world went black.

I woke up and found myself laying in something soft. I lifted my head and took in the warm scent of vanilla and the foresty scent of my mate. I blinked my eyes a few times to focus and saw so many sets of herbs and bottles of who knows what around me.

I groaned as I lifted my head and saw Thruster sorting different leaves into piles. When he heard me stir he turned around and wagged his tail. "You're awake!"

I tried to sit up but the room started to swim and I was forced to slump back into my bed which was just blankets on the floor.

"Easy," chided Thruster as he abandoned his herbs and bounded to my side. He pushed his head against my shoulder and I was forced back down. I looked up at Thruster with starry eyes. "You gave me quite a scare."

I wanted to shake my head but I thought better of it and just rested my head back on my paws. "W-What happened," I stammered as I raised a shaky paw and pawed at my face.

"You tell me," barked Thruster as he left my side and he grasped a pile of herbs in his mouth. He then dropped them at my paws. "Here, eat these. They'll make you feel better."

I thought about arguing with him but I thought better of it. Thruster would some how get me to eat it so I just thought I'd eat it now without arguing. I leaned forward and lapped up the herbs, chewing them slowly. I swallowed them painfully and wrinkled my muzzle in disgust.

"So can you tell me what happened," I asked hopefully.

Thruster shrugged before he laid beside me and our fur brushed affectionately. He then licked my cheek and rumbled. "Poultice came and got me. He said you just collapsed. I believe you lost consciousness. I don't know why you did but there has to be a reason. I took you here until you woke up. The thyme and poppy should calm you down a bit."

I sighed, remembering it a bit. "Thank you. I don't know why it happened but I think it was mostly fatigue."

Thruster leaned forward more and nuzzled me between my ears. "You don't have a fever so you aren't getting ill."

I frowned before I pushed his head away with mine. He looked at me with confusion lighting in his eyes. I licked his nose and felt my heart ache.

"Logan had a very interesting conversation with me earlier," I barked hollowly. "He told me had to chose."

"Chose," echoed Thruster in shock as his whiskers twitched a bit. "Chose between what?"

I licked my chomps and I struggled to answer. "He wants me to chose between him and you and the pups."

Thruster's eyes narrowed to slits. "Why in the world why he do that," he snapped and I felt the anger waft from him.

I forced myself to look away. "I don't know," I confessed.

Thruster sighed heavily and rested his head on my shoulders. "Don't worry. We'll figure this out together."

I wasn't exactly sure how that was going to work out. "Thruster I have to go with Logan," I told him.

I felt Thruster tense against me. "You're going to leave me," he breathed and I could hear the crackle in his voice.

"Don't see it like that," I argued as I snuffled closer to him and intertwined my tail with his. "You would go with Professor anywhere, right?"

"I wouldn't if it meant that I had to leave you," he murmured as he nuzzled my ears and I couldn't help but laugh a bit. "Or our pups. They don't deserve that."

"I know," I sighed as I brushed my fur more against Thruster's. "But I don't have a choice. I have to go with Logan."

Thruster plastered his ears against his head. "So you're just going to leave us," he inquired as he lifted his head and gazed at me. "Please don't do this Starlight."

"I have to," I murmured as I touched my nose to his and my heart ached. "I'm so sorry but I must."

"How are you going to tell the pups," he asked as he drew back from me and a look shone in his eyes, a look as if to say he didn't know who I was anymore.

I looked at my paws that were beginning to shake with uncertainty. "I don't know yet. However please let me tell them."

Thruster sat up and I saw his body give a shiver. Was that out of fear?

I couldn't help but ask an involuntary question. "Will you still love me?"

Thruster seemed a bit taken back by the question. He twitched an ear and looked at me with deep yet unreadable eyes. "Of course I would. Nothing you do could make me love you any less. I love you move than anything! You're my starlight in the darkness."

That made me feel a bit better but I couldn't help but feel that I had abandoned him. He asked for me to be his mate, not mate that left him.

"Would you be angry with me," I wondered, hoping that he wouldn't be. I would be if he left me but that was just my personality.

Thruster shook his head. "No I wouldn't. However our pups might not share my sense of forgiveness."

I understood that but I would have to at least try to explain it to them. "Thank you for understanding Thruster."

I nuzzled his cheek with my nose before I hauled myself to my paws. I staggered a bit but I managed to catch myself and give my pelt a shake.

"Hey nothing to strenuous," Thruster called as I tried to barrel out of Thruster's room.

I turned and looked over my shoulder. "Don't worry."

With that I pushed myself forward as I prayed that they would understand why I had to go. Realization pulsed trough me once I realized I was doing the same thing to my pups that Tony had done to me.
