Holly sat on the small beach of the merman's tiny island paradise. Maybe a plane would fly over, or a boat would go by, and she could be rescued. She had no idea where she was. But wherever she was, she felt completely isolated from the world. Why did he save me? She wondered. Did he save me, or did he just take advantage of the fact my family had been attacked? My family! Oh my god, their all dead! I have nothing, and no one. Everyone I love is gone!
As the realization hit her, she began to cry. She had never felt more alone. It wasn't just that they had all died, it was how they died. Slaughtered by a giant octopus, and at the command of some strange half man/half octopus. But It was all her fault.
He did it because he was after her. Because of some psychopathic mystical creature having lustful feelings for her, everyone she loved was know gone. But then the merman rescued her. But why? Was it for the same reason? He could be just as bad, or worse.
Why were they after me? Why not Alicia instead? Why do I get to live while my family is now gone?
As she continued to cry, she wrapped her her arms knees, and held them tightly to her chest. With that she completely lost it, and balled uncontrollably. What was she going to do?
All of a sudden, she heard someone splashing around. She looked up, and saw the merman crawling up on shore. As soon as their eyes came in contact, he smiled at her. She didn't know what to do. Was it a friendly smile, or one from a lustful predator about to attack his prey?
I'll just stay put. She thought. Right here in the middle of this island. He can't walk, so he won't he able to get me.
But there was something she hadn't counted on, his tail was not equivalent to that of a fish. It was equivalent to a sea serpent. As he looked as though he was standing up straight, he was able to use his tail to move like a snake. She thought about getting up, and running away. But where would she go?
If they were on a normal land mass, she could easily out run him. But they were on a tiny island, connected to a cave. A cave that had an entrance from the ocean. There was no way for her to leave. She couldn't hide from him. As he moved closer, she began to tremble.
All she could do was close her eyes, and pray. Hopefully he wouldn't hurt her. After awhile she could feel his presence as he was right next to her. Afraid to open her eyes, she kept them closed. It was as if not seeing him meant he didn't exist. However, she soon felt him cupping her chin. He then gently tilted her head upwards.
As he did, she opened her eyes and he smiled at her. He then took his other hand, and began to wipe away her tears. The merman then reached into a bag he had around his shoulder, and pulled out what looked like a strange large plum. He then moved it to his lips, and made a motion with his mouth as he was pretending to eat it. He smiled again, and motioned that he was offering it to her.
Holly was starving, and maybe it would be foolish to try and eat it. Maybe it was poisonous, and he was trying to kill her or drug her. Or maybe it was something safe for him to eat, but dangerous for her. But at this point she didn't care. She was famished, and she had nothing else to lose. Holly smiled back, and took the fruit from him.
"Thank you." She said. She didn't even know if he understood her, but she figured he would understand that she was being grateful. He must have, because his smile grew wider as soon as she said it. Being as hungry as she was, she ate it quickly. Normally she would never practice such bad table manners, especially in front of a man who looked like a god. Wait! What was she thinking?
Holly couldn't believe the thoughts that were going through her head. She was trapped on a tiny island with some strange merman who brought her here without asking, and then got a little sexually aggressive earlier. But now all she can think about is how gorgeous he is, and how she doesn't want to come off as a pig in front of him? What the hell was wrong with her?
"Damor!" She heard him say, as she was surprised that he finally made a sound. Puzzled, she looked up at him. He then lightly tapped his chest with his fist.
"Damor!" He repeated again in a sensual masculine voice. Holly's eyes widened, as she began to understand that he was telling her his name.
"Wait!" She cried. "Is that you're name? Can you understand me?" He had a confused look upon his face, as he shook his head. He then kept gesturing to himself.
"Damor!" He said.
"Damor." Said Holly as she pointed to him, and smiled. Well they weren't communicating all that much, but at least it was a start. Damor nodded, and smiled, letting her know that she was understanding him. She then placed her hand flat against her chest.
"Holly." She said with a smile.
"Hol-ly." Said Damor as he lightly poked her on the nose.
"That's right!" She said feeling elated. They were making progress. She then pointed to him.
"Damor!" She repeated again, and then pointed to herself.
"Holly!" She laughed. He looked at her as his smile grew wider.
"Holly Hobby!" He said. All of a sudden her heart began to sink. Her smile immediately faded as tears began to well up in her eyes. Her brother James was the only one who ever called her that. Damor just looked at her with confusion.
"Where did you hear that?" She cried. She had no idea what was going on, or where he got that from. All it did was remind her that James, and everyone else she loved was dead.
He reached his hand out to her, but she shook her head and continued to cry
"No!" She cried. "How do you know that nickname?"
Damor just shook his head. The look on his face was a combination of sympathy, and confusion. Before she could even react, he gently grabbed her wrists. It scared her, and she began to struggle against him.
"NO!" She cried, "Let me go!" But he didn't. Instead he scooped her up into his arms, and held her close to him. She kept struggling to try and get out of his hold, but he was just too strong.
"Put me down!" She cried.
But instead of letting her go, he lowered them both down to the ground. As he did so, he was able to twist his tail around. He was sitting with his tail out in front of him, as he held her as though she was sitting on what would be his lap.
Holly kept crying and struggling, but he refused to release her. His embrace was strong, yet gentle. He placed her head in the crook of his neck, as he began to gently rock her. After a while, she just stopped struggling. It was obvious he had no intention of letting her go. So she gave up the fight, and accepted his caring embrace.
Maybe she gave up the struggle, because she knew he was just too strong. But maybe, it was because she felt like his loving arms was where she belonged. As her tears began to subside, they stared into one another's eyes. Once again, he gave her a loving smile.
Then before she knew it, their lips smashed into one another's. Holly then felt his tongue gently make it's way through her pulsating lips, and she gladly accepted it. Because of working hard in school, she never had a boyfriend. So in reality this was her first passionate kiss.
As the kiss broke, they once again stared into one another's eyes.
He then placed his hand on his chest.
"Damor." He whispered.
He then took her hand, and placed it flat against his chest right over his heart. She could feel his rapid pulse as soon as he did it.
"Holly." He whispered to her, with her hand still being held over his beating heart.
