Your jaw clenched in anger as you kept hearing the new interns gossip about Meredith and Derek. You tried ignoring what they were saying but it was nearly impossible with how quiet the lab was and how loud they were.
"If you're not talking about the procedures for the patient, I'd like you to leave. A patient's life is in our hands. You can gossip in your own free time."
They apologize and the lab goes back to being quiet. It was peaceful at first but then your mind started going into overdrive as what they gossiped about kept swirling in your mind. Derek and Meredith had a past and it made you worry that Meredith had cheated on you with Derek. It just fueled your anger to the point that you had to cut the lab short.
"We'll go over this another time. You're all dismissed.'
They could hear hear the anger in your tone so no one said anything as they hurried out of the room. You needed to talk to Meredith about what was going on so you hurried to finish the lab results and made your way to her office.
As you turned the corner, you found Derek and Meredith standing close together as if they were about to kiss.
"What the hell is going on here?"
You whisper, loud enough for them to be the only ones to hear. Meredith, slightly jumps as you startled her and Derek just turns around. Annoyed that you had bothered his conversation with her.
"Derek just needed me to go over this patient's lab results.'
Meredith shows the file, knowing that you weren't going to believe her if she didn't show it to you.
"I'd like to talk to Meredith."
"I'll come over to your office later to talk about the other results."
He nods and leaves the two of you alone.
"(y/n), what's going on? Why are you acting like this?"
"The interns kept talking about how close the two of you had seemed to be for the past couple of days. The days that you would tell me that you were busy when I tried to have lunch with you."
"I knew you wouldn't be happy if I told you that I would be discussing several lab results from patients."
You scoff, crossing your arms as you looked down at her.
"I wouldn't have cared, Meredith. He's your coworker. Do you really think that I would have problem with the two of you discussing such thing. I trusted the fact that you would always be up front with me but apparently you lied to me."
"I didn't lie to you"
"You purposely omitted the fact that you were going to be busy with Derek. There was literally no reason to hide it from me, Meredith. Why did you do it?"
"Because I know that you still get jealous of the fact that Derek and I had almost gotten married."
"Jesus, I don't care about that. I got over it. You can't really blame me for acting like this when I hear from the interns hat my girlfriend is going behind my back."
Meredith reaches out to touch you but you stepped back.
"No. Don't touch me. I'm furious and I need to process this."
"(Y/n), wait!"
She tries following after you but gets blocked by a nurse trying to ask for her advice.

'I need some time apart. I need to think about the fact that you hid things from me.'
'(y/n), please. Lets talk about this.'
Meredith replied as soon as she got your text. Hoping you would respond but you just left it on read. You weren't ready to deal with things at the moment. After such a long day, you finally laid down on the bed and fell asleep. Tomorrow was a brand new day and you hoped you would be able to process better what had happened.
