"I don't understand why you want me to go talk to L-Corp's CEO. Why can't you do it, Alex?"

Alex grimaces and shakes her head. Lena still wasn't her big fan after how Kara had revealed her secret to her. She was pissed off that her friends had lied to her and Alex couldn't blame her. For now, to avoid further conflict, Alex was going to give her space.

"It's none of your business. I'm the director and if I say that you go talk to her about needing her advice on a project then you go talk to her."

"Alright, no need to use that director voice on me. I was just curious."

Alex gives you a brief nod and goes about her day.

As instructed, you arrived at the CEO's office, 10 minutes before your meeting.

"Ms. (l/n/), you can go in. Ms. Luthor is ready for you."

You thank her and walk inside.

"Sorry for the short notice, the DEO insisted it was urgent."

"Yeah, well...it's you"

You wince when you hear her first words to you. Those words were etched across your forearm and yours were etched across hers. Lena had memorized your greeting by heart that she didn't even have to check to see that it was in fact you. Plus it was so specific that there was no way that someone else might accidentally say it.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Luthor. You must have me confused with someone else. I've never met you before."

Lena shakes her head and stands up to pull up her blouse and show you the exact same words you had spoken to her, etched by her ribcage.

"You're my soulmate."

You give her a tight lipped smile and again shake your head.

"I'm here on urgent business. I do not have time for any of that nonsense."

Lena's heart felt like it had been ripped out. All her life, she had dreamt about meeting and connecting with you and now that she had met you, you didn't want to even acknowledge the fact that you were soulmates. She fixes her blouse and coat before taking a seat.

You feel bad over the way you had handled it but after what happened the last time, you weren't going to go down that path again.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Luthor. I just..."

"You don't have to explain to me. Like you said, you're here on urgent business."

Lena just let you explain the reason why you had gone to her and simply agreed to helping the DEO. For you, she would do anything. Even if you had practically rejected her.

You could tell that Lena had no clue as to what she agreed to do and you didn't blame her. You had practically stomped on her heart and forced her to act like nothing was wrong. Her expression had been ingrained in your mind and you couldn't stop thinking of how heartbroken she looked. It made you want to go back in time and take back what you said but you ultimately decided it was for the best. Your last relationship had been a train wreck and you never wanted to go through that again.
