The party was soon over and the guests went home, except Nina's gang, Miguel, Hwoarang, Lee, Zafina and Kunimitsu.
They all sat around the Mishima household's dining table. There was some cake and snacks left and they discussed over the food.
"Kazuya, where are my clothes?" Lars asked. "I wanna wear something comfortable, not this fancy suit..."
"Yeah it's all in Jin's room," said Kazuya. "Go get it there."
Lars went to Jin's room to change. He was relieved that they didn't burn his clothes or anything like that.
"It's a good thing I brought a change of clothes," said Hwoarang, putting his formalwear inside his bag. "There, that's better. What do you wanna talk about, Kazama?"
"Dad?" Jin said, prompting his father to speak instead.
"Right," said Kazuya. "Jun told me everything. I'm observing Tiger now too. And yes, I've caught him doing suspicious things too."
"Yeah and I found him digging in your desk when you asked him to get that file for him," said Jun. "That file was right in front of him but he was rummaging your drawer."
"Yeah I noticed the disorder of my stuff after that," said Kazuya. "I just thought he had a hard time finding it. I should've listened to Jun..."
"It's okay, Kazuya," said Jun, comfortingly rubbing her husband's back. "He actually doesn't mean any harm. It's just that, someone framed you for killing Eddy's parents."
"Yeah, I know," said Kazuya. "Anyway, your guys went to Eddy's workplace right? Did you find any clues?"
"Plenty!" Hwoarang said, digging his bag. "An old newspaper!"
"Yeah all you got is that mouldy newspaper," said Steve, putting the stuff that he found on the table. "I managed to get Luiz's diary! And a newspaper clipping."
"Now that's what I'm talking about," Jin said and snatching the diary. "How did you even get this?"
"I found it in his office," said Steve. "It was covered in dust so I figured Eddy wouldn't miss it."
Jin opened the first page and stared at it in shock. He flipped through the book and put his face on the table, resting it on his elbow.
He held the book up for the others to see with his other hand. Everyone gasped and Hwoarang started laughing.
"Yeah like that's real helpful," Hwoarang said, laughing at Steve. "You said my newspaper was mouldy? At least it can be read!"
"Wait, gimme that," Shasha said, snatching it. "It's written in some kind of code!"
"Yeah but what is it?" Lars asked. "We can't decode it if we don't know what it is..."
"Well I know what it is," said Shasha. "It's mono alphabetic substitution!"
"Can you decode it?" Kazuya asked.
"I believe I can," said Shasha, getting up to get her notebook and phone. "I learnt it in detective class last week."
She searched for it and started to decode it. But then something wasn't right. It still looked like gibberish when decoded.
"Wait why don't you flip the alphabets," said Nina, looking at Shasha's notebook. "Like you said this is J-R? Why don't you turn it to A-I instead? And this one from S-V to W-Z instead?"
"Wait, let me try," said Shasha. "So we flip the sequence?"
"Yes," said Nina. "Luiz might've wanted it to be extra secure."
She crossed out the previous decoded message and started another. It still looked like gibberish.
"Wait why don't you invert the sequence?" Anna suggested. "Like, I-A instead of A-I?"
She tried that and a sentence started forming. She showed to the others in triumph.
"Thanks for the ideas, guys," said Shasha. "So this is what the first sentence says."
She gave the paper to Kazuya and he read it with Jin and Jun leaning over his sides.
"This diary belongs to Luiz Gordo," the three of them read. "If you're reading this, it means you have successfully decoded this and my enemies have eliminated me. I must congratulate you for your skill in decoding this."
"Hah so I did get something," Steve said in triumph. "All you got was a mouldy newspaper!"
"Excellent," said Lee. "So you want to decode it?"
"Oh I'd love to!" Shasha said. "I'll work on the first page overnight!"
"No, that's not good for you," Jun said sternly. "You're only working on it in the morning. You got that?"
"Yes, auntie," Shasha said with a sigh. "But if I have trouble sleeping, I won't think twice to work on it."
"No you shouldn't," said Jin. "Or else you'd end up like Lars here..."
They all looked to where Lars was sitting and found him fast asleep.
"The poor guy had a long day today," said Jin. "He had to prepare for the Tekken Force ball. It's for last year and it's gonna be grand since last year was a special year for all of us."
"Yeah and we're inviting the tournament contestants too," said Nina. "So... we are welcomed to go too!"
"Am I invited too?" Kunimitsu asked. "I was in the second tournament."
"Yeah you are," said Jin. "Because by then, you'll be a part of the Tekken Force Shrike Army."
"Yay!" Hwoarang said suddenly. "Free food! Is Asuka coming?"
"Of course she is," said Jun. "Even if she doesn't come, I'll personally drag her to the event all the way from Osaka."
"And I'll drag you away from her," Jin said, heavily landing his hand on Hwoarang's shoulder. "I have my eye on you, chingu."
"Since when did you learn Korean?" Steve asked. "But then again, this guy has got your back since the third tournament. Must've been a pain huh?"
"A very big pain," said Jin. "But he did help me out on certain occasions..."
"Be grateful!" Hwoarang said. "I helped you out on various occasions! I even almost lost my eye when I saved you from that grenade."
"Yeah yeah thanks for that," said Jin. "Keep in mind that I came to see you with a huge apology and a bunch of stuff."
"Yeah thanks," said Hwoarang. "I still have those soft slippers that you got me. And that food was awesome, especially for someone who was tired of eating bland hospital food."
"Yeah and remember when I had to hide when Master Baek came in?" Jin said, laughing when he remembered the time. "Gosh, that was scary..."
"Good to know, Jin," said Steve, suddenly. "Good to know."
"What?" Jin asked, confused.
"You're a man who's half-devil, created war and chaos, hunted down his family members and a CEO of a company," Steve said, smirking. "But even you fear Master Baek!"
"Well yeah, he's such a strict man," said Jin. "I didn't wanna get nagged at for the cause of Hwoarang ending up in the hospital several times..."
