Shasha was walking back from school like she usually did. She thought about the strange company she was supposed to research.
She frowned as she thought about what she would dig up on them. Her other friends were lucky to get a company so familiar, especially Ella. She literally lived with employees of that company and were even good friends with the CEO and his family.
She was walking around when all of a sudden, a truck pulled up next to her.
She ignored and continued walking.
"Excuse me, Miss?" A gruff voice asked.
She turned around and saw that a man was leaning out of the van.
"Could you tell me which way Hokkaido is?" The man asked. "This map seems to be haywire."
Shasha was taken aback. Was this guy that stupid that he didn't know that Hokkaido was in another part of Japan, or was he massively lost? Or was he just messing with her?
"It's very far away," Shasha said. "We're in Tokyo, not Hokkaido. Hokkaido is up north."
"Oh I'm sorry, then," the man said. "Could you come in and help lead us there? It would be a great help."
"I'm sorry sir, but I have to go," Shasha said, turning around to leave. "You can try using a GPS system. I'm sure your phone has one."
"Hey," the man said, much sternly. "Come in or it's gonna end bad for you."
Shasha didn't look back. She started running. She knew that she couldn't outrun them on foot, especially since she wasn't the fastest runner and also because they actually had a vehicle in their hands.
She managed to run and hide behind a tree. The men from the van came out and searched around for her. Shasha prayed that they wouldn't notice her.
She scurried from tree to tree when she noticed them nearing. She was grateful because the trees were all old and had thick barks. She easily hid behind them.
After what seemed like forever, the men gave up and climbed back into the van, cursing and blaming each other for losing her. Shasha heaved a sigh of relief when she saw them drive off into the distance.
She walked back to Nina's mansion, hiding behind in the trees. She kept the pathway in sight so that she wouldn't get lost.
She felt all the joy in the world when she at last saw Nina's mansion arrive in the distance. She ran towards it and only felt safe when she was safely locked away inside.
Shasha sat down in the living room couch and buried her face in her hands. She just escaped from being kidnapped. She didn't know how to react. Happy that she managed to escape or scared at the fact that she almost got kidnapped.
This has never happened before. She was sure that she had been targeted.
But by who? Who would want to kidnap a small fry like her? She didn't even have any criminal records nor was she mixed up in something sinister.
Well, she was mixed with lots of dangerous things but that didn't come in her mind. She wasn't important nor was she famous.
The others returned and were surprised to see her sitting in the living room, her face in her hands.
"Hey what happened?" Nina asked, sitting down next to her. "Why the long face?"
"I almost got kidnapped," Shasha said without looking up. "I managed to escape and run straight here."
"Oh no!" Anna exclaimed. "Who were they?"
"Beats me," Shasha said with a shrug. "I never saw them before. They just came and tried to kidnap me."
"But why were they after you?" Steve asked, puzzled. "You're not mixed in anything sinister, are you?"
"Steve, you guys literally dragged her into lots of stuff," Adam pointed out. "You guys even tagged her along to break into G Corp lab. Besides, she has been mixed into lots of Jin's business."
"That's true," Nina said thoughtfully. "But why target you?"
"That's what I dunno too," Shasha said. "It's all so sudden, I don't know what to think!"
"From tomorrow on, we'll pick you up from school," Anna said firmly. "I always thought that road was too lonely. No one ever goes there. Even if you scream, no one's gonna hear you."
"That's why I like walking there," Shasha said with a slight smile. "It's safe to walk, away from most cars."
"No more walking there," Steve said firmly. "We're picking you up. You wait in school. We'll come."
"Okay..." Shasha said, defeated. "I won't come out, okay?"
"Good," Nina said. "Anyway, what's for lunch?"
"I didn't prepare anything," Shasha said sheepishly. "I just came home and sat here, not sure what to think of the kidnapping."
"That's alright, lets make something now," said Adam. "And Nina would help us."
"Duh," Nina said with a grin. "Anyway, come on. Let's go to the kitchen."
They made chicken quiche for lunch. It was really tasty but they still couldn't get over the fact that their friend just escaped from being kidnapped.
From that day on, they sent Shasha to school by car and picked her up themselves. They didn't even allow her to set foot and wait outside of the school together with the other students.
Ella found it weird that Shasha no longer walked home but decided to wait in the foyer with her. Penelope and Ash waited with them sometimes too.
"Hey could you help me get an interview with Jin or something?" Ella asked hopefully. "I'm sure Ailbert would sit up when he sees that I literally spoke to the CEO of the company."
"I'll ask Nina," Shasha simply said. "But I can't promise anything. Jin's a busy man."
"And could you help me get an interview with Kazuya Mishima?" Ash asked. "I heard that Jin is his son."
"Again, I'll ask Nina," Shasha said again. "And I'm not guaranteeing anything again. Kazuya is even busier than Jin sometimes."
"Hmm..." Ash said, nodding. "I'm not depending on that. But if you do manage to, it'll be great."
"RefreshiGordo drinks are good," Penelope said, drinking a bottle of RefreshiGordo's apple soda. "And their ingredients are good too. Quite fresh."
"I love RefreshiGordo drinks," Ella said. "My dad knows Eddy personally and he's actually a good friend. Remember that commercial, Shasha?
"Yeah I do," Shasha said and then realised Nina's Lamborghini slowing down in front of the school. "Okay, my ride is here. Bye guys!"
She ran off and climbed into Nina's car. They picked her up everyday to ensure that she was safe. They knew that her mother wouldn't take it if something happens to her. They wouldn't forgive themselves either.
