83 - Zach Herron ( Why Don't We )

" He's been my best friend since we were 3 years old, there's nothing going on between him and I, " I tell him, which he just simply rolls his eyes. " I promise you, there's nothing going on between the two of us. Don't be concerned about the two of us, " I add, he looks at me again and gives me a sigh. 

" Just be careful okay? " He tells me, I give him a nod. 

I'm about to go on tour with the boys, and he's overly concerned like usual. He being my dad, he's always been overprotective. I am the youngest and the only girl in the family. So he's always been overprotective. He's known Zach for so long, but even then he's always talking about how he knows how boys are. 

I am going to be performing with Eben which is pretty fun. Eben and I are really close friends, he's like my older brother. " Your dad give you the talk again? " Zach asks me, which causes me to just smile chuckling. 

" Yeah, he's so concerned, " I tell him, which causes him to laugh. " He's always like he's still a boy, which I only comment-dad, he's been my best friend since I was 3. If he was into me, he would have already made a move, " I add. Which causes him to chuckle towards my comment. 

Zach and I have been friends since we were 3 years old, I moved from Washington state to Texas, and the Herron's family was the first family my family met. Zach is 3 months older than me, I'm born in August of 2001 verses him who is born in May of 2001. 

Him and I did everything together, and we were attached at each other's hips. " Okay... come on we have to go! " Jon yells, which causes all of us to being walking towards the bus. 

Being close to Zach also means being close to all of the other boys, other than Zach I'm closest to Jonah. Jonah's the guy who I can talk to about anything and everything, and my mom always 'secretly' ask him to make sure I'm alright. 

" Y/n we need you for something real quick, " Jon tells me, I give him a nod walking away from the group. Him and I started talking about what exactly is going to be the situation with the sleeping arrangements. Which means I'll be sleeping with Zach, cause he knows I'm the most comfortable with him. Or I'll sleep while the boys are doing something. 

Zach and I have slept in the same bed so many times I've truly lost count. When you've been best friends since you were 3 you get used to sleeping in the same bed. Since I'm pretty much the only girl Jon is like the dad when we're traveling. He's always protecting me. 

" What did he want to talk about? " Zach asks as I walked back over towards them. 

" Just sleeping stuff and just the whole tour and everything. The usual since I'm the only girl, " I tell him, which causes him to nod towards me. As much as everybody is protective over me, Zach is probably the most. I mean him and I have been friends for so long. 

I started working while we were driving, and I kept writing some lyrics. I've been working on my EP, and I'm getting close to it being done. Zach has joined me with where I was sitting, and I can tell he's bored. But I'm working so I necessarily can't entertain him at the current moment. 

" Zach, I can tell you're bored. Where are the others? " I ask looking over at him, which causes him to look at me. 

" They're all trying to get some sleep or working, I'm just bored and not tired, " he comments, which causes me to nod towards him. " Which song are you working on right now? " He asks. 

" Waterfall, trying to find the perfect lyrics of it, " I tell him, which causes him to nod towards him. " I was just trying to figure it out, " I add. He nods towards me again. 

" Well why don't you take a little break, and we can just play something? " He asks, which I give him a nod. Usually I would disagree, but I am tired and probably need to take a break. 

We moved to his bunk, and he laid down and I laid half on him and half off of him. The two of us quietly talking to the other. " I had this idea for a song, and I think I'm going to do it, " I tell him, he hums towards me. He's practically asleep, he's been working so hard lately. " Yeah... I'm going to call it, why haven't we, so I think it's going to be a good song, " I whisper, which causes him to hum again. " Why don't you just go to sleep Zach? " I ask quietly, he just slowly nods quickly sleeping. And I then I fall asleep as well. 

I was woken up by Zach trying to get up. " Sorry... did I wake you up? " He asks. 

" It's alright, why are you getting up? " I ask him. 

" I need to go to the bathroom, " he comments, which causes me to nod towards him. He gets up and then comes back out, and we begin to quietly talk to one another. We've had some moments between the other, and I think that's why my dad always thinks that there is something between the two of us. 

" What time is it? " I ask him, he looks at his phone and I see the time it being 3:45 in the morning. " We should probably go back to sleep, " I whisper towards him, and he nods towards me. 

I move so I'm resting completely on him, and we continue talking. I move closer to him, and he grabs a hold of me causing me to stop. " Can...can I kiss you? " He asks, I slowly nod towards him and he kisses me and I quickly kiss him back. 

It quickly becomes more intense, but we had to be quiet due to all of the boys being around us. I move away from him, and we look at each other. " We should probably get some sleep, " I whisper, he nods towards me. 

And the two of us slowly go to sleep. 

Zach's P.O.V. 

I was still wide awake, I had just not only kissed my best friend but made out with her. I just... you know I've always had feelings for her, I've always found her beautiful and she's my best friend so obviously I fell in love with her personality. 

I've always wanted to be more than friends with her, and her dad knows this. Her dad is aware of my feelings, I think everyone is aware of my feelings towards her. 

Jack could tell something was on my mind, and now he's grabbed a hold of me pulling me away from the group. " What's wrong? " He asks me still kinda confused of what is happening. 

" Y/n and I kissed last night, " I tell him, he gives me a half smile half shocked expression. 

" Why aren't you happy? Come that means she feels the same way, " Jack comments, I look over as she talks to Jonah. They look like they're in deep conversation. I look back at him, and scratch the back of my neck. " Zach... it's obvious she feels the same way, don't act like she doesn't. It's clear she does, you just need to go over to her and admit your feelings, trust me Zach... I promise she feels the same way, " he adds. Which I just nod towards him, and look over at her again. 

Maybe it's actually time to tell her how I feel, and not hide anything. I begin to walk over to her, and she turns from Jonah pointing to me. " Hey Zach, what's up? " She asks. 

" I like you, I've liked you since you broke your leg when we were 12. I've loved you since we had to spend the whole night in the hospital when you got appendicitis when we were 14. I-" she cuts me off by slamming her lips against mine, and I quickly kiss her back. 

She steps away from me and smiles. " I love you too Zach, " she chuckles, which only causes me to smile towards her. 

And that was the start of our relationship, there were a lot of ups and some downs. But we were able to survive it, finally I get to call her mine.
