Max and Kirra met up with JJ in the common room, and they went down to breakfast together. They spent most of the morning in The Hufflepuff basement, where everyone was enjoying their presents, then returned to the Great Hall for a magnificent lunch, which included at least a hundred turkeys and Christmas puddings, and large piles of Cribbage's Wizarding Crackers.

They went out onto the grounds in the afternoon; the snow was untouched except for the deep channels made by the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students on their way up to the castle.

JJ and Max chose to watch Kirra and the Weasleys' snowball fight rather than join in, and at five o'clock Max and Kirra said they they were going back upstairs to get ready for the ball. "What, you need three hours?" said JJ, looking at them incredulously and paying for his lapse in concentration when a large snowball, thrown by George, hit him hard on the side of the head.

Kirra and Max were talking excitedly as they made their way back to the common room, they were excited for the night. They made it to the entrance and quickly tapped the correct sequence on the barrels and the entrance swung forward to let them inside.

Max and Kirra changed into their dresses up in their dormitory, both of them looking very self conscious, but none as much as Kirra, who surveyed herself in the long mirror in the corner with an appalled look on her face.

"C'mon, make-up now," Adira, their room mate said with a wide grin on her face. Adira did all of the girls make-up and she had done an excellent job. Kirra made her way back to the mirror and took it all it. She wasn't sure if she could do this.

"You look absolutely beautiful, you're going to make all their jaws drop," Max said as she walked up behind Kirra and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, "and you will make that idiot regret not going with you to the ball."

She had on a long, royal green dress with designs etched into it with a different fabric. And she had beautiful green make-up to match it. She looked truly gorgeous.

 She looked truly gorgeous
