Lydia closed her eyes as she placed her hand on Kol's chest, leaning her head against his shoulder and curling up against his side while his fingers brushed against her bare shoulder, enjoying this moment of peace between them. A small part of her was worried that this wouldn't last, but things were different. They were engaged now. They would soon be married. It had only been a little over two hours, but it felt like it just happened. The excitement in her hadn't died down one bit. Not on their walk to the Manor, not when they snuck up to Kol's bedroom since they didn't want to be seen together just yet and not now as she laid in his arms, with only his white sheets covering the both of them.

"I can't believe we're actually getting married," Lydia smiled up at Kol.

"Well we are," Kol returned the smile, taking her hand into his and intertwining their fingers together."First, I need to get a ring on that finger."

"It sounds weird," Lydia admitted."In a good way. I went so long calling you my boyfriend and then my ex and now you're my fiancé and soon you'll be my husband. Husband sounds so permanent I love it. It means I will always be yours and you'll always be mine. Well, that's unless we get a divo- oh my god. We just got engaged and I'm talking about divorce, I'm going to be terrible at this."

"Not at all," Kol laughed when he watched Lydia bury her head in his chest."You are going to be an amazing wife. I cannot wait to marry you."

"Obviously you'd think so, otherwise you wouldn't be marrying me," Lydia said jokingly."Did you know I caught Caroline looking at wedding dresses for me once?"

"Can you blame her, Dia?" Kol commented."You are going to look gorgeous in a wedding dress."

Lydia knew herself well enough to know that there was nothing she could do to stop her cheeks from hearing up upon hearing his compliment why. She didn't know why his compliments never failed to make her blush."Stop making me blush."

"You are going to have to get accustomed to it if we are going to be together forever," Kol teased her."But before we run off into the sunset, we probably do have some things we should discuss."

"Yeah, I know," Lydia let out a small sigh. After being separated for so long, it would be foolish to think that they could slip back to what they once were without discussing everything that had happened since their breakup. Lydia wasn't worried. If she was, she wouldn't have said yes. There wasn't anything that happened that she could see breaking the two of them up."I wish we could just stay here forever. When we leave, we're always met with problems."

"Then this time, we will just have to face them together," Kol responded, making Lydia smile once again.

"I think that the biggest problem we will face is dealing with everyone's ideas for the wedding," Lydia half joked."The people in our lives are very. . . Opinionated. Rebekah was insulted when I didn't ask for her help in planning a party I threw in my dorm."
