question of the chapter: what characters do you think i like or dislike based on this fanfic? (i will keep asking until someone answers because it's for my writing tip book)

Rae jolted awake in her sleep, hearing the sound of a thump against the ground coming from outside of her room. She didn't know what it was, but she was instantly wide awake and jumped out of her bed. She didn't know what the noise could've been. Bubbles sometimes knocked into things, it could've been a noise from outside, or Elijah was deciding he needed to leave at three in the morning. Rae didn't think that it would be Elijah. She assumed he would be asleep, but when she opened her bedroom door, she was wrong.

"Elijah?" Rae squinted her eyes at him, confused as to why he was not asleep in the guest room, and it was difficult to see in the dark hallway.

"I apologize, did I wake you?" Elijah asked, but that wasn't what Rae was concerned about.

"Why do you have your suitcase?" Rae asked, folding her arms in front of her chest.

"I need to leave," Elijah said with a small nod of his head."I am going to get Kol."

Rae furrowed her brow upon hearing this. Kol was in New York with Lydia. He was hours away, and most likely not going to leave with Elijah. Not if he really was with Lydia. Lydia was set to come back in the afternoon anyways. And it was three in the morning. Elijah didn't need to be going anywhere.

"Elijah, it's three in the morning," Rae pointed out, not understanding the rush.

"I do not have time to waste," He insisted, trying to move past Elijah, but she moved to block him. She didn't know what happened between when she showed him to the guest room and now, she didn't even know what could happen. No one else was in the house. Unless Klaus had called with something that upset him, she didn't know what else it could be.

"Elijah, what happened?" She asked him, placing her hand on the banister since she stood at the top of the staircase.

"I'm fine," Elijah assured her, noticing that she looked worried."You should return to bed. It is late."

"I didn't ask you how you were," Rae reminded him."But now that you went there I'm starting to wonder, are you? Fine?"

"Rae, you are an incredibly kind and caring person," Elijah began, confusing Rae."And I understand that you are trying to look after me, but it is unnecessary. My family needs me, I need to leave."

"Your family is over a thousand years old," Rae reminded him sharply."If they still need you to hold their hands and tie their shoelaces, then at this point there's nothing you can do for them."
