question of the chapter: can you guess (from how i write this fanfic) what characters from the show that i like or dislike? this is related to my writing tip book. i'll answer it next chapter.

"Lydia, you paying attention?"

Lydia blinked a few times, suddenly focusing on the voice that came next to her. She had been so focused on her thoughts that she spaced out. Kol was all that she could think about. He still hadn't contacted her. Not a single text, not a single phone call. She hadn't seen him since he left her on the bridge last night. It felt like a dream, like she wasn't sure if it really happened, but when she closed her eyes, she could still feel his hands against her skin, she could still smell him, and hear his voice.

She didn't tell anyone what happened. She couldn't. She trusted her friends more than anything, but they could all be compelled by Klaus. And she knew Klaus would follow through on his promise to dagger Kol if he found out Kol went to see her. The only people Klaus couldn't compel the truth out of were Kol and Lydia, the only two who knew. Lydia was a psychic, and an Original couldn't be compelled by another Original. Besides, what would she tell her even? Her and Kol hadn't gotten back together yet, they merely talked, though it felt like much more than that.

"Hmm, yeah, I'm fine," Lydia nodded her head quickly as she looked through the window, seeing that they were already at the airport. She couldn't stick around Mystic Falls for Kol. She had work to do, and she still had a trip to go on. Rae had agreed to drive her.

"Really? You look like you're off in your own world," Rae commented."Is this about Stefan?"

Lydia shook her head, denying it because it wasn't true. Lydia wasn't in love with Stefan, she never was. She didn't know what either of them were thinking, both loved the other, but neither were in love. But they had fun, they enjoyed each other's company, Lydia didn't regret it, but she wasn't exactly sad that it was over.

"No, it was a mutual decision," Lydia clarified. There were no hard feelings between her and Stefan. And Lydia wasn't upset about the breakup at all."I'm just thinking about the trip. That's all."

Rae seemed to believe Lydia, and it was technically the truth. Lydia was thinking about the trip, because she was thinking about what Kol was planning. He didn't say he would see her when she got back or see her when she was there, so she had no clue what to expect.

"Are you going to be good alone in the house?" Lydia asked, though she probably should've asked that much sooner.

"Yeah," Rae nodded her head."Probably just gonna hang out by myself and watch some movies, eat some snacks, avoid doing my homework."
