10. Eligibility

Jennifer: Nila Catherine Joseph, what will you do if I entrust you with the responsibilities of the whole department?

After a series of questions, Jennifer posed her the final question and waited for an answer.

Nila: I will put my sincere efforts to make my department better in every sector. As of now everyone thinks that our department consists of only bookworms. We always remain behind in extra curricular activities. Our consicutive failures during inter department competitions prove it. Whereas other departments like Zoology, Physics and Mathematics excel both in academics and sports. I will try to motivate them and bring out the best out of all our students.

Jennifer: Great Nila. You've indeed got leadership qualities in your veins. All the best. You may go now.

Nila: Thank you ma'am

At the lunch hour

Riya: Do you think that she was impressed by your answers?

Nila: Well, I don't know. I don't expect to get selected neither. I took part just to ensure the participation of our group.

Susan (demurs): To be frank, we all want you to make it to the top five.

Nila (laughs): Excuse me, You are all out of your senses now. I am way far behind all of the candidates. I'm not eligible for such a dignified post. I'm just a stupid average girl.

Judith: Oh shut up will you? Why are you keeping on degrading yourself? We are all impressed by the answers You've given. I must say your chances are high.

Nila: That won't be enough to satiate Jennifer. She keeps high expectations.

Susan: What's lacking in you Nila? You are the bold, smart and fiery one among us. Remember how bravely you faced Ben that day?

Catherine: Who's that?

Susan: That tall, troublesome playboy of the physics department. I must say he's an absolute pervert. One day, he was trying to take nude pics of girls from the changing room.

Catherine: Chi! What the heck? How come nobody hasn't reported it yet?

Riya: His maternal uncle is the member of the board. I have also heard that his one of his relatives is working as a director. That's why he's still here. He gets away due to influence and lack of evidence.

Catherine: Shame on these people. What did you do then Nila?

Nila made a confused face.

Riya: Few days before, he was sighting over Samantha. She warned him a couple of times but he didn't listen. One day, he cornered her at the washroom and tried to molest her. Thankfully Nila saw that and caught him by his collar.

Catherine (looks at Nila): Good heavens! Then what happened?

Riya (excited) Oh, you should have seen it Cate. He tried to run away but she gave him an wholesome kick on his back. He growled like a puppy who got hit by a vehicle and fell down. Still, he managed to get up and run away.

Catherine: Did you guys complain?

Nila: Well, we tried but Sam was too frightened to complain. She was scared as he and his friends stayed in her locality. Even though we tried to complain but we were dismissed due to lack of evidence. Moreover his friends gave false statement that Ben was at the gym class while the incident happened.

Riya: I've never seen such a perverted guy in my entire life. He just asks every random girl to go and sleep with him. Has no respect for us. Shameless Moron!

Susan: Well, during one gym class, I accidentally threw the ball on him. I said sorry and he asked whether I was single. I said "Yeah, so what?" He asked whether he could come to my house at night.
