59. Prep for the Prom Night

Nila and Alex were at the music room, practising. Alex was practicing her drums while Nila's fingers were busy fiddling the strings of the guitar. She seemed lost.

Alex: Woah I need to buy the dress tomorrow itself as the prom is on Friday. What do you think? Which color would suit me? Red or Blue?

She didn't reply.

Alex: Nila, where are you lost?

Nila: Uh..he agreed to go to the prom with me but the problem is...my mom won't agree. How will I manage her?

Alex: Just tell her that you have a programme at college where you have to perform. Simple.

Nila: Can you help me with that? I mean, my mom is really shrewd. If she sees me in a gown, she'll grow suspicious. I can't get out of the house in that attire.

Alex: Is it? Then you come to my house. I'll come and pick you up in the name of practice. We can get dolled up together. What do you say?

Nila: Yeah that's appealing but another problem is...I don't have a party gown.

Alex: You don't have a party gown?

Nila: You know me right? I don't shop heavily adorned gowns or dresses as I don't go to parties often. I like simple gowns. As it's my first prom, I want to be in my best outfit. Reethu and Reena has dark coloured ones, with heavy bead and glitter work. I don't like them. Moreover I can't spend so much money on a dress which I'm not gonna wear for long. What should I do?

Alex: Oh..I understand. Well, I have got a lavender gown with me. If you want I can..

Nila: Really? Could you let me borrow it for a day?

Alex: Sure. It's not actually mine. It's my mom's. She often goes for balls and parties and she has a collection of ball gowns. I'll ask her today itself. Seems it'll be a bit large for you but don't worry we can alter.

Nila went forward and hugged her.

Nila: You are indeed my Doraemon! You have a solution to every problem. I'm lucky to have you as my friend, Lovie

Alex: Aww...that's sweet. I forgot to tell you one thing. It's an off-shouldered one. Are you okay with it?

Nila: No problem. He shouldn't be able to take his eyes off me for a second. I wanna look damn gorgeous that day. (excited)

Alex: Woah. That's great. What he is planning to wear?

Nila: He has no idea. So I told him to rent a tuxedo. I really wanna see him in that outfit. He'll look dashing!! Hope other girls won't leer at him.

At the third year chemistry class

It was a free hour. So the students were roaming in and out of the class. Riya and others were still engrossed in the discussions about the prom while Jennie came running towards them.

Jennie: There's a really good news. I asked Luke to go to the prom with me and know what? He said yes!! I'm literally over the moon right now.

Nila: Really? That's amazing! You go girl!!

Jennie: Yeah. It's like a dream come true. All credit goes to Riya and Alex. You made my heart explode with happiness today.

Nila: What did you guys do?

Alex: We just gave her advices on  how to attract her crush and it worked!! Luke and Jennie will officially become a couple soon. (winks)

Riya: We are officially matchmakers you know. If anybody is a hopeless romantic, we could find your true love. Right Alex?
