Drinks

We made it to the bar and it was crowded but we luckily found a place at the bar that was kind of further away from everyone else. I ordered good and Ryu did the same.

"So? Are you gonna talk now?"

"Let's wait until we get our drinks, I think you'll need them,"

We waited a few minutes and our drinks arrived. I took a sip and turned to Ryu.

"What would you like to know first,"

"First of all...Why do you keep coming back to the Benevolent Mistress? You know I don't like you very well,"

"If I were to tell you that it was because you were there would you believe me?"

"No,"

"But that is the reason. I'm interested in you after all. People like us don't come around often," 

My serpent skill was always active so having it in situations like this was helpful.

"...Don't compare me to you. I don't know why you killed but it isn't the same reason I did,"

"...I agreed to talk about my thoughts, not my past. I don't plan on prying into yours either so let's just leave it at that,"

My unusual direct tone must have told her I wasn't joking around so she just let it go.

"Then start with how you knew about your knife getting stolen,"

"Simple, I have a good sense of people. By being around them I can tell what kind of person they are, or if I look into their eyes..." I then brought my face right in front of hers, "I can even tell if they're killers or not," I then pulled my face back "But once you kill enough you get that ability anyway,"

Knowing that I didn't want to get too deep about the killings and since she also probably didn't want to talk about it she spoke up again

"So you figured that she was a thief and made sure to have steps to catch her, now though she seems awfully loyal to you,"

"Of course, I saved her from some adventurers that were about to kill her so she decided to follow me for the rest of her life to make up for it,"

Serpent Tongue made this a lot easier since she bought it with just this.

"Then what about you with the Loki Familia?" Ryu said as she took a sip of her drink.

"Cause it was fun," 

"...Huh?"

"Why wouldn't I mess with them? They're all so mentally unstable I find it funny that people call them heroes,"

"What are you talking about?"

"Ais has some sort of emotional disorder where she can't express herself, Bete while not really considered a hero obviously has an inferiority complex. The other two, Finn and Rivera...I can't say I found them out just yet,"

"How can you even know all this? I won't take 'I can just read people' as an answer,"

I smiled "When I look at people there are two things I see, first their face, then their thoughts. That's just how I am,"

She then downed the rest of her drink. "You're crazy you know that,"

"Hehe...Maybe. Anyway my turn,"

"huh?"

"I want to ask you some questions, and don't worry it won't be personal,"

"Fine," She said as her next drink arrived

"How did you start working at the Bar?"

"...I was picked up by Syr one day," She said as she finished the second drink she got.

"...I won't pry since it seems like a sensitive subject, anyway how about this. Why are you in Orario?"

"I don't like my kind," She said as her next drink arrived "Elves...They always say that humans are vile disgusting creatures but they don't realize they're no different,"

She was about to finish her drink again when I spoke up "What do you mean by the same as humans?"

"...We have always been taught that having another touch our body outside of the elven race is sinful, Humans, we say look down on all the other races. But so do we,"

"I touched your hand though right?"

"That's cause your not a human,"

"What?"

"You're the devil. That's why,"

"Haha...You really are something else," I said as she finally finished her drink.

Another one of my goals was to get her drunk to the point where I could get her to spill more info but it seemed like she had a high tolerance for it.

"Say...How do you look at humans?" Ryu asked as she went to her 10th drink. At this point, I think my wallet may really run dry.

"I think that-"

"I want your real answer,"

"...You sure?"

"Yes,"

No hesitation. I liked that about her "I think that humanity, no not just humanity but everything that I don't like can go die. I simply just don't care. For example, If I saw someone with a major cut on their arm and I had a potion, I just wouldn't do anything,"

"..."

"You wanted the truth yes?"

"...You would just let someone die just like that?"

Truthfully I wouldn't. It's not like I kill for fun, only if I need to.

"No, I never said that humans would die from it. Sure they could die from bloodloss or something but I'm just saying that I don't give a rats ass about humans, or any other race for that matter that I don't like,"

"But...I just don't understand you. You say you don't like to kill but you wouldn't help someone who was about to die?"

"I simply am not here. I just like to watch, I only move when I have a motive,"

"...Am I just as a motive to you as well then?"

"Yes...My motive for you is curiosity,"

After that, she ordered a few more drinks and we left. My wallet was nearly all gone but I succeeded in what I wanted to do. I wanted to have a close relationship with Ryu. After all, she was super strong. 

As we walked out I stared up and the giant tower that seemed as high as the night clouds.
