Sun scrambled after Y/N in a rush to catch up with her. ‘What has changed?’ he thought. The last time he saw her, he’d known her as a sweet, loving girl who was too nice for her own good. But this.. This was an entirely different person. As he ran after her, the lack of light turned him back into Moon.
“Starlight, what happened back there? Why would you act like th—”
“Because I’ve had enough, Moondrop.” She turned on him, causing them both to stop walking. Moon flinched when he called him by his full name.

“I’ve lived my entire life, not just teens and adult years, being physically and psychologically abused. Do you know anyone else who’s had that happen? Do you?”
She continued before Moon could speak again. “If you have, you’ll see that most of them turn out to be terrible people. I have tried so hard, 𝘴𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥, to be nice, to be forgiving, to not be what this shithole life wants me to be. But I’m done. If the world wants me to be a terrible person so badly, then so be it. I’ve been fighting a losing battle for over 20 years.”

She let out an exasperated sigh, looking at the ground. “And now I wave the white flag.”

She turned and kept walking, putting her earbuds in, leaving Moon frozen with an absolutely shocked look on his face.
“Oh, Starlight...” He whispered breathlessly.

As Y/N went back to the daycare, her fazwatch went off. She groaned and accepted the call. It was Sal. Moon walked into the doors quietly behind her as Sal spoke.
“Take the day off, Y/N. That isn’t a request.”
Y/N rolled her eyes, starting to pack her things back into her mini backpack.
“I know about Eclipse and Lunar, by the way. Bloodmoon too.”
That caused Y/N and Moon to both stop in their tracks.

“You’re burnt out and clearly not well. You are no longer allowed to come to work until either Eclipse or Bloodmoon give the all clear. Am I understood?”
Y/N slowly nodded.
“Moon, I know you’re behind her. You’re dismissed from nightly patrols, I’m going to let you ‘sneak out’ as you please. Not like you didn’t do that anyway.”
Moon nodded slowly.
“Good, now let Sun finish up, and then you can either continue to work on your little project in the back room, or leave to follow Y/N.” And with that, Sal hung up the call, leaving both Y/N and Moon in complete shock.

Y/N packed up her things, looking at Moon, who still had a hurt look in his eyes from the way she’d spoken to him. She walked up to him, gently cupping the side of his face with one hand. “I’m sorry.. I was just mad.. I didn’t mean it. I love you.” She told him softly, giving him a kiss on the head before walking out.

As she walked out, Moon sighed and walked over to the desk, picking up the naptime room key and putting it in his chest compartment, how they used to have it before Y/N began to work there. He leaned with his elbows on the desk, putting his face in his hands as he began to silently cry. He never cried. He hated showing weakness, even if he was alone. But this was one of those times that he couldn’t stop.

The doors of the daycare opened, and Chica stepped in. “Hey, Moon. Wh— Oh.. Are you..”
Moon wiped his face quickly, looking away. “No! I’m not!” He sniffled, wiping his eyes one last time before forcing himself to stop crying. “The hell do you want?” He asked bitterly.

“Well, the rest of us wanted to check on Y/N..” She told him softly, walking over. Moon didn’t look at her.
“She got sent home. She isn’t coming back for a long time..”
Chica sighed and put a hand on Moon's shoulder. Moon looked at her with a glare in his ruby red eyes.
“Hun, we’re all here if you wanna talk.. You’re important to Y/N, so you’re important to us.”
